Troubleshooting
Error description
Yoke and/or profile tube twisted
Joint cross broken
Centering system with a wide
angle joint broken
Wear on tractor and implement
shafts and profile tubes
Profile tube bent
Restraint chain ripped
Lug bent
Protective bearings defective
Defective PTO drive shaft guard
* Only replace defective components with original Walterscheid spare parts.
** Get the PTO drive shaft shortened by a specialist workshop.
Cause
Overloads as a result of torque
peaks
The angle of the wide angle joint
in operation or at a standstill is
greater than 80°
75° for PW675
50° for P450
Vibrations from the joint angle
being uneven or too large
PTO drive shaft comes into
contact with machine parts or
tractor parts (e.g. three-point
linkage, tractor linkage drawbar)
or missing free space
Restraint chain attached
incorrectly or inadequate
maintenance
Machine parts (e.g. hydraulic
lines, metal sheets) in contact
with the PTO drive shaft

Remedy
Replace the damaged
components*.
Avoid overloads.
Check the clutch function (see
Chapter 2.6).
Replace the centering system*.
Prevent the angle from
becoming too great, e.g. by
changing the hitch.
If there is too much wear on the
profiles, replace the profiles or
the entire PTO drive shaft*.
Check the hitch kinematics,
strive for a roughly equal
and small joint angle (see
Chapter 2.3).
Replace the bent profile tube*.
Create sufficient free space for
the PTO drive shaft, the PTO
drive shaft may not come into
contact with machine parts in
any position (see Chapter 2.3).
Replace the restraint chain or
protective bearings*.
Match the length of the restraint
chain to the swivel angle and
mount at roughly a right angle.
Attach the lug back onto the
guard cap.
Prevent contact by the machine
parts. Ensure there is sufficient
free space.
