Switching on the lamp
1 Push the white switch to switch the white light on (where
applicable). The green indicator light in the switch will
come on.
2 Push the blue switch to switch the blue phototherapy
lamps on. The green indicator light in the switch will come
on. It takes about 1 minute to reach maximum output.
3 The hour meter records the operating time of the blue
phototherapy lamps.
If therapy is interrupted and the lights are turned off
Phototherapy lamps must be allowed to cool down for
about 1 minute before turning them back on.
Care of patient
Monitor the infant's core temperature.
Increase fluid supply to meet infant's increased fluid
consumption, e.g. increase fluid supply by parenteral
infusion.
Check that eye protection remains in place at all times.
Check serum bilirubin concentration periodically.
Monitoring service life
The intensity of the effective light decreases with use. After
500 operating hours the intensity is more than 85 % and after
1000 operating hours the intensity is more than 80 % of the
initial value.
Hour meter shows total operating time for the phototherapy
lamp.
Blue phototherapy lamps must be replaced every
1000 operating hours by trained service personnel.
WARNING
Use only the phototherapy lamps indicated on the Order
List. The use of other radiation sources can impair the
reliability and effectiveness of the phototherapy.
