Problem
Cannot thread the POP
NUT™ onto Mandrel
No forward or
reverse rotation of
the Mandrel. (Slow
rotation)
The Mandrel cannot
unthread from the
insert
Unthreading sequence
stopped during
automatic reverse
The insert is not
fully set, stroke is
incomplete
The tool automatically
reverse rotates
The tool does not
reverse rotate
automatically
The Mandrel is
damaged, and/or
broken
Tool cannot be
adjusted to achieve a
proper installation
Mandrel rotates
clockwise as soon as air
is supplied to tool and

Cause
Incorrect Mandrel and Nosepiece
Mandrel threads are damaged.
Metal chip are jammed in
Mandrel's threads.
Low air pressure.
Insuffi cient Lubricant.
Insuffi cient Lubricant in the
rotating parts.
After installation, the tool is still
threaded into the insert and work
piiece
The insert threads have been
damaged due to high setting force
Mandrel threads are damaged.
Trigger was released while
detaching the tool (before
unthreading was complete)
Low air pressure.
Too little hydraulic oil.
T-Valve assembly is stuck in back
position due to lack of lube
Low air pressure
Too little hydraulic oil or air is
mixed in hydraulic oil.
Life of the Mandrel
The setting force is excessive
Tool is not perpendicular to the
work piece during installation
Too little hydraulic oil
M-Valve Rod (#103) at back of Air
Motor is stuck
Action
Change to the correct parts for
the POP Nut you are using.
Replace the Mandrel
Clean and lube the Mandrel
Adjust the air supply to the
correct pressure range
Adjust the Lubricator drip rate.
Lubricate the rotating parts
Disengage the tool from the
workpiece using the Control Knob
Disengage the tooll from the work
piece
Adjust the setting force correctly
Replace the Mandrel
Disengage the tool from the
workpiece using the Control Knob
Review the proper operating
procedure
Adjust the air supply to the
correct pressure range
Recharge the hydraulic oil
Lube air inlet, cycle tool trigger
and push T-Valve Push Rod in and
out
Adjust the air supply to the
correct pressure range
Recharge and bleed the hydraulic
oil
Replace the Mandrel
Adjust the setting force correctly
Replace the damaged parts
Review the proper operating
procedure
Replace the damaged parts
Recharge the hydraulic oil
Remove Rear Case (#30) and
inspect M Valve End (#133) and M
