GENERAL DATA
Electro-mechanical operating device in low voltage for up-and-
over counter-balanced doors. The extremely compact dimen-
sions, and a particular chain movement system, mean installation
is both easy and quick. The two operating devices, installed on
the sides of the up-and-over door structure, eliminate all problems
of automation associated with up-and-over doors with a service
door incorporated. Manual opening is by releasing the operating
devices, using the appropriate handle each operating device is
equipped with. For areas without other doors for access a release
device is available which can be operated from outside, using the
cremonese handle installed in the up-and-over door.
The control panels to be combined are the Mod. CASTOR, with
emergency battery, or the Mod. MIRA, with or without emergency
battery.
For control panel functions, refer to the respective instructions.

INSTALLATION
WARNING: Remember that the motorisation is a device which
facilitates the use of the up-and-over door and does not solve pro-
blems caused by defects and deficiencies regarding installation or
lack of maintenance of the up-and-over door .
WARNING: Operations to be carried out prior to installation.
This type of automation device can be installed on all up-and-over
doors with counter-weights having a space between the moving
arm and the fixed part not less than 9mm, as shown in fig. 3.
For up-and-over doors with a single, side counter-weight it is only
possible to install a single operating device for door structures
with a surface area up to 2.5 x 2.3m.
Check that the up-and-over door fully opens manually without
friction. If there are problems concerning free movement or coun-
ter-balancing, these are to be resolved.
Remove the product from its packaging and remember to dispose
of these components (carton, polystyrene, nylon etc.) according
to the directions of the current norms.
FIXING THE MOTORS TO THE STRUCTURE OF THE UP-AND-
OVER DOOR
The casting of the up-and-over device must be fixed to the upri-
ght of the mobile structure of the up-and-over door at a distance
of 255mm from the centre of rotation C of the door structure, as
indicated in fig. 4.
The base of the reducer motor must be fixed to a flat and level
surface. If the up-and-over part on the structure upright has a
flanging which prevents fixing the operating device casting on the
flat, it will be necessary to remove this for the whole length of the
base, with the auxiliary of a double ended cross cut saw or lap-
ping machine, as in fig. 5.
Mark the drilling centres for fixing half way along the side adjust-
ment holes of the operating device, keeping the casting aligned
with the outside of the structure upright.
Drill right through the upright, fix the operating device, placing the
flat spacer CP between the operating device and the structure
upright, inserting the round-headed screws from the outside of
the door, as in fig. 6. Do not completely tighten the locking nuts,
to allow for final adjustment of the reducer motor position.
Assemble the parts of the brackets AS and fix them with the
screw provided.
Weld the bracket AS to the fixed part of the up-and-over door at a
height where, with the door open, the swinging arm B of the
bracket AS does not come into contact with the reducer motor
pinion (fig. 7).
If this is not possible, shorten the swinging arm B as required. It is
possible to fix the stirrup AS to the ceiling too, using two expan-
sion dowels suitable for the kind of ceiling used. In this case use
only the part of the bracket AS with the swinging arm, as illustra-
ted in fig. 8.
The bracket AS must be positioned so that the chain with small
rollers, hooked on to the swinging arm B, lies centrally in the
space S (min. 9mm) which exists between the fixed part of the up-
and-over door and the mobile arm of the door structure, as indi-
cated in fig. 9.
Weld plate A to the fixed part of the up-and-over door, centred on
the space S and respecting the distance of 350mm shown in fig. 10.
To facilitate installing the chain, follow the instructions:
1) Unhook the return spring from the swinging arm B of the
bracket AS and fix the chain, using joint G, to arm B (fig. 2).
2) Completely open the up-and-over door.
3) Release the pinion, rotating the handle M of the motor (fig. 11)
in the direction of the arrow and install the chain completely as
indicated in fig. 2.
4) Stretch the chain, bring it towards the chain connection A
which has previously been welded, allowing it to form a slight
arc as in fig. 2, and mark the chain link to be cut. (Before cut-
ting the chain, it can be useful to fasten the chain to plate A,
using a piece of iron wire, to check its exact length).
5) Using suitable pliers, or a lapping machine as in fig. 12, remove
the surplus links.
6) Using joint G, fix the chain to connection A.
N.B. The chains of the two operating devices must have the same
length.
Carry out horizontal adjustment of the motor reducer, using the
slits provided in the base of the operating device, so that the
chain is centred in the space S (fig. 13) between the moving arm
and the fixed part of the door and, with the door completely shut,
is aligned with the pinion. Completely fix both operating devices.
The operating device is supplied with 1.6m of chain. In the case of
very high up-and-over doors, a chain longer than that supplied
may be required. In this case ask for a longer length of chain and
apply the AP device (fig. 14) to the sides of the up-and-over door
to facilitate the opening manoeuvre and to gather up the chain.
PREPARING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (general layout)
WARNING: When preparing the electrical system the current
safety norms are to be strictly adhered to, concerning motorised
gates and doors, for example, in Italy the UNI 8612 norm, as far
as regards safety devices and risk prevention.
Prepare the necessary connections according to the typical layout
in fig. 16.
