2.3     D efrosting  
 
Since   t he   e vaporator   o perates   a t   t emperatures   w ell   b elow   f reezing,   i ce   a nd   f rost   w ill   i nevitably   f orm   u pon   i t.  
The   h umidity   i n   t he   a ir,   t he   t emperature   a nd   t he   n umber   o f   t imes   t he   d oor   i s   o pened   w ill   h ave   a   s ignificant   i mpact   o n  
frost   f ormation.  
The   r efrigerator   s hould   a lways   b e   d efrosted   w hen   t he   l ayer   o f   f rost   o n   t he   e vaporator   r eaches   a   t hickness   o f   3 -­‐4   m m  
or   m ore.  
Turn   o ff   t he   r efrigerator   b y   t urning   t he   t hermostat   t o   i ts   0   p osition.  
Defrosting   s hould   b e   p erformed   w hen   t he   p roducts   c an   r emain   a s   c ool   a s   p ossible   o utside   o f   t he   r efrigerator   i tself.  
Do   n ot   u se   s harp   o bjects   t o   r emove   i ce   a nd   f rost   f rom   t he   e vaporator,   a s   t his   c ould   d amage   i t   a nd   r esult   i n   l eaks.  
Only   t urn   t he   r efrigerator   b ack   o n   o nce   i t   h as   b een   d efrosted,   c leaned   a nd   t horoughly   d ried.   R emove,   e mpty   a nd   d ry  
the   d rip   t ray   b eneath   t he   e vaporator.   A   t owel   c an   b e   p laced   a t   t he   b ase   o f   t he   r efrigerator   d uring   t he   d efrosting  
procedure   i n   o rder   t o   f acilitate   w ater   c ollection.
 
 
3.   M aintenance  
 
Isotherm   C ruise   r efrigerators   a re   e quipped   w ith   c losed   c ooling   s ystems,   w hich   d o   n ot  
require   m aintenance   o r   r efrigerant   r efills.  
The   c ompressor   i s   s pecifically   d esigned   f or   m obile   a pplications   a nd   g uarantees  
maximum   p erformance   a nd   d urability.   I n   t he   w inter,   t he   r efrigerator   m ust   b e   s tored  
inside   t he   b oat,   b ut   t he   c ompressor   w ill   n ot   w ork   a t   t emperatures   n ear   o r   b elow   0 °C.    
Seasonal   m aintenance   i s   l imited   t o   t he   c leaning   o f   t he   c ondensing   u nit   b ehind   t he  
refrigerator.   I n   p articular,   i t   i s   n ecessary   t o   b rush/vacuum   o ut   a ll   t he   d ust   t hat   h as  
accumulated   d ue   t o   t he   f an.   T his   c an   b e   d one   u sing   a   s oft   b rush   a nd   a   v acuum   c leaner.  
It   i s   i mportant   t o   k eep   t he   i nside   o f   t he   r efrigerator   c lean   b y   w ashing   i t   w ith   w arm   w ater  
and   m ild   s oap   a nd   b y   d rying   a ny   w ater/condensation   t hat   m ay   b e   e ncountered.
In   o rder   t o   p revent   d amage   t o   t he   e lectrical/mechanical   c omponents   a nd/or   t he  
formation   o f   m ould,   w hen   s hutting   o ff   t he   r efrigerator   f or   e xtended   p eriods   o f   t ime   i t   i s  
necessary   t o   w ait   f or   t he   u nit   t o   d efrost   c ompletely   a nd   t o   e liminate   a ny   c ondensation  
that   m ay   h ave   f ormed,   b oth   i nside   t he   a ppliance   a nd   i n   t he  
external   w ater   c ollection   t ray.   T he   n atural   d efrosting   t ime   c an  
vary   f rom   a   f ew   m inutes   t o   s everal   h ours.   I n   t he   w intertime   a nd  
when   t he   r efrigerator   i s   s hut   o ff,   t he   d oor   s hould   b e   l eft   s lightly  
 
ajar   f or   v entilation.
In   o rder   t o   s et   t he   d oor   t o   a   p roper   v entilation   p osition,   u se   a  
knife   o r   c oin   t o   r elease   t he   s topper.   T he   s topper   c omes   t o   r est  
against   t he   r efrigerator's   u pper   g asket,   t hus   k eeping   t he   d oor  
open.   F or   t he   E legance   m odels,   s et   t he   d oor   s topper   t o   i ts  
ventilation   p osition.     R emove   t he   l ight   b ulb   o r   d isconnect   a ll   o f   t he  
unit's   p ower   s upplies   i n   o rder   t o   a void   n eedlessly   d raining   t he  
 
battery.
 
3.1     L ow   v oltage   p rotection  
 
In   o rder   t o   p revent   e xcessive   b attery   d epletion,   a   p rotection   d evice   s huts   o ff   t he   c ompressor   i n   c ase   o f   i nsufficient  
voltage   a nd   t urns   i t   b ack   o n   w hen   t he   v oltage   i n   t he   s ystem   i ncreases   a fter   t he   b atteries   h ave   b een   c harged.
