-the battery supplied is exhausted; after all connections are made carry out a first recharge cycle
of at least 48 hours, in order to achieve the endurance declared.
-replace the battery when the device is not able to assure the endurance declared. After 4 years
from the installation or about 500 charge-recharge cycles have elapsed, it needs to be replaced.
The performance of the emergency system are assured only with batteries that are equal in brand
and model to those supplied with the device.
the battery of a self-contained emergency luminaire is not a user serviceable item and shall only
be replaced by a competent person.
-for the battery disposal comply with the current regulations on diversified waste disposal and
recycling
-prior to any maintenance operation, disconnect all power cables, including those with the
battery.
-to carry out the ignition test for the light fixture of PERMANENT type, in addition to the ordinary
(normal) power supply, the safety (direct emergency) one is also required.
-in case that both ordinary and safety power supplies are derived from a three-phase system,
it is recommended that the phases of both power supplies are the same, in order to avoid that
a failed operation of the emergencies or a likely block of the electronic power supply unit may
occur in case of failure in one single phase.
- During the lamp installation, always specify the date of activity start on the battery and make a
first recharge of at least 48 hours, to achieve the endurance declared.
-the system should be fed only with the battery supplied, do not combine it to external recharge
devices.
-periodically make at least one battery discharge-recharge cycle (every three months), in order to
reach the utmost system efficiency.
-for light fittings with an emergency unit that does not have a built-in testing device, periodically
(every three months) perform at least one battery discharging and recharging cycle to obtain the
utmost system efficiency and to check proper operation of the light fitting. if remote testing devi-
ces that simulate a failure are manually operated when powered by normal mains supply, they
must be the automatic reset type or operated with a key. in any case, they must not influence
operation of the light fitting in normal conditions.
