Maintenance
Check all parts for deformation and damage and replace
them, if necessary.
CAUTION
Neither tighten nor remove the self-locking nut at the ball joint
of the mask/helmet adapter. Otherwise, the function of the
mask/helmet adapter will be impaired.
Both mask/helmet adapters can have a different moveability
in the ball joint which will not impair their functionality.
NOTICE
During maintenance work, the flap can break away from the
cap (Figure A1, 10 and 11). The flap can simply be hooked in
the cap again.
After maintenance work and/or replacement of components
again check the leak tightness.
Replacing the Visor
Unhook the cap on both sides from the lens frame
(Figure F1-1).
Use your thumbs to press against the bottom part of the cap
and remove it from the fastening noses (Figure F1-2).
Pull the cap up from the facepiece.
Remove the screws of the frame.
Mask-
Remove the mask/helmet adapter.

Spread the frame apart, tilt it towards the front and pull apart
sideways.
Detach the visor from the rubber frame (Figure F2).
NOTICE
Moistening either the mask body or the lens frame facilitates
the assembly.
Notice the centre marking on the visor.
Centre the new visor when inserting and make sure that it is
properly seated in mask body.
Full face
Apply pressure onto the lens frame until it
snaps into place at the centre of the visor,

then tighten with new self-locking screws until
the gap is shut.
Mask-
Apply pressure onto the lens frame until it
snaps into place at the centre of the visor. Put

Put the cap on the connection piece, lock it into place on the
fastening noses and hook it in the lens frame.
NOTICE
Depending on the facepiece, the recess for the connection
piece can vary. Make sure that the following caps are used,
for facepieces P and RA: cap R 56 278
for facepieces PE and ESA: cap R 56 378
Replacing the Inner Mask (Figure H)
To remove, take hold of the inner mask at the tip of the nose,
then pull it off the pin and out of the connection piece groove.
To attach, put the inner mask onto the pin, then press it into
the connection piece groove.
Replacing the Speech Diaphragm
Unbutton the inner mask.
Unscrew the speech diaphragm with a socket wrench and re-
move it.
Perform visual inspection of speech diaphragm and O-ring
and replace if necessary.
Insert O-ring, then screw in speech diaphragm
(recommended torque: 400 ±50 Ncm).
Attach nose cup.
Replacing the Exhalation Valve
Open the flap.
RA
Unbutton the valve disk.
Valve disk and seat must be clean and undamaged.
Clean or replace if necessary.
Mount the valve disk.
PE
Pull the straight arm of the spring carrier outwards
ESA
and remove the spring carrier (Figure G).
P
Remove valve disk
Valve disk and seat must be clean and undamaged.
Clean or replace if necessary.
Insert the valve disk.
Put the spring onto the centre of the valve disk, in-
sert the bent arm and lock spring carrier into place
with both arms.
Close the flap.
Replacing the Inhalation Valve

Press the button on the connection piece.
P
Pull the inhalation valve out of the connection piece.
RA
Take care not to damage the connection piece.
PE
ESA
Position a screw-driver under the edge of the valve
seat and use it to remove the valve seat.
Take care not to damage the connection piece.
Do not use pliers to pull the valve seat ribs.
Valve disk and seat must be clean and undamaged. Clean or
replace if necessary.
Insert the inhalation valve into the facepiece.
Replacing the Valve Disks for the Nose Cup Valves
Valve disks and seats must be clean and undamaged; other-
wise clean or replace the valve disks.
Replacing the Connection Piece
Unbutton the inner mask.
Unhook the cap on both sides from the lens frame
(Figure F1-1).
Use your thumbs to press against the bottom part of the cap
and remove it from the fastening noses (Figure F1-2).
Pull the cap up from the facepiece.
Use a screw-driver to pry open the clip, then remove it.
Pull out the old connection piece.
Align the new connection piece and the centre marking be-
fore inserting and make sure that it fits properly.
Align and mount new clip: Attach the hook to ensure the tight-
est possible fit of the clip. Compress the nose on the connec-
tor clamp using type R 53 239 pliers until the facepiece
connector is securely located in the mask body.
Put the cap on the connection piece, lock it into place on the
fastening noses and hook it in the lens frame.
NOTICE
Depending on the facepiece, the recess for the connection

Make sure that the following caps are used:
for facepieces P and RA: cap R 56 278
for facepieces PE and ESA: cap R 56 378
Attach nose cup.
Replacing the Head Harness
Replace head harness as described below (Figure J1):
Pull the head strap kit away from the flap of the mask.
Push the head clip of the strap kit towards the visor.
Attach head harness to the mask as described below
(Figure J2):
Put the clip onto the flap of the mask, then press the lock.
Make sure that the nose of the flap locks firmly into hole of
the clip.
