d. Place the corner (ind. 2) in the loop of cable (ind. 7)
and pull back on the free end of the cable (ind. 9)
while holding the unit to lock the corner (ind. 2) in
the unit (ind. 1).
e. Hold in the assembly together and moor the unit
(ind. 1) on the shock absorber using the mooring line
(ind. 3) to equip with two split rings (ind. 6).
f. Manually tighten the cable by simultaneously
pushing on the moored end (ind. 8) and pulling on
the free end (ind. 9).
g. Check by a strong pull on the moored strand (ind. 8)
that the cable is well and truly trapped in the unit, and
then the thread the end of the free end of the cable
into the protective cap (ind. 10).
 Corner unit installation completed.
h. Tension the line using the tensioner (section 7.11).

SAS recommends that you oil

the tensioner in order to avoid any risk of seizure when
the line is under tension (page 12, Fig. 24).
"IMPORTANT": The locking of the cable in the
corner unit cannot be guaranteed unless you use the
corner unit (ind. 2) supplied by Tractel
"IMPORTANT": The thin end of the corner unit
must be directed towards the box to ensure the gripping
of the cable.
"IMPORTANT": The axis of the moored strand of
the cable must be centred along the mooring axis as
shown in figure 23 page 12.
"IMPORTANT": The length of overrun of the free
end of the cable must be at least 100 mm.

6.11. Tensioning the cable and sealing the
line
The following installation procedure refers to Figure 24
on page 12:
a. Turn the body of the tensioner (ind. 2) to return the
two halfshells (ind. 1) to the inside of the body of the
tensioner. Carry on using a rod (screwdriver, etc.)
inserted into the hole in the body of the tensioner
(ind. 7).
b. Tension until the 2 indicator holes of the tensioner
(ind. 8) are aligned in front of each other.
immediately stop tightening as over-tensioning would
trip the shock absorber and deform the end or bend
anchors, which would then have to be replaced.
c. Tighten the 2 lock nuts (ind. 3) against the body
(ind. 2) and lock off using two size 21 spanners.
d. Thread the sealing wire (ind. 9) successively through
one of the 2 half-shells (ind. 1), of the hole of the
body (ind. 7), the second half-shell (ind. 1) and then
insert the 2 ends of the sealing wire (ind. 9) inside the
holes of the seal (ind. 10).

e. After slightly stretched the sealing wire (ind. 9), crimp
the sealing pad using the sealing clamp.
f. Check the crimping of the 2 ends of the sealing wire
with a gentle pull.
 Tensioning and sealing of the travflex™ 2 lifeline
is complete.

6.12. Layout of the areas of access to the
lifeline
The access or accesses to the lifeline must be defined,
and limited to places exempt from risk of falling from
height and be clearly marked by an information plate as
described hereinafter. They must be designed so that
the operator can securely connect their PPE, equipped
with slider, onto the lifeline.
