Testing
!
Before the start of testing, comply with the testing
and repair instructions for high-pressure pumps in
ESI[tronic].
i
Perform the pump test as described in the
operating instructions for the CRS 845 test set.
5.1

Prior to testing

Check the following items before switching on the
EPS 815:
R
Is the test equipment properly connected?
i
The CP4 test requires at least six quantity
measurement channels to be used with the KMA. At
least four of these must be connected to quantity
measurement channels 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 or 10.
R
Have the protective devices (e.g. protective hood)
available, complete, and functional?
R
Has the component to be tested (e.g. CP4) been
properly clamped and connected (hydraulically and
electrically)?
R
Is the outlet for the lubricating oil supply on the
EPS 815 sealed with a dummy plug?
5.2

Switching on the EPS

1. Switch on the EPS at the main switch
2. Start the ESP 945 software.
 The software performs an initialization and the
status displays light up green.
3. Switch on the EPS converter and the test oil pump
on the EPS control unit.
4. Set test-oil pressure control valve (600 kPa or 6
bar; fig. 2, item 10) and test-oil pressure control
valve (250 kPa or 2.5 bar; fig. 2, item 11) to
maximum pressure (right stop).
5. Open the test oil inlet cock (Fig. 2, item 1).
6. Issue a controller enable.
"

Starting the test procedure

Warning - danger of injury due to escaping
test oil or flying parts!
If the hydraulic connections for the test
equipment and common rail pump are
set up incorrectly, test oil can escape at
high pressure or components of the test
equipment can burst when the test is
started. This can cause injury or material
damage.
Before switching on, check that all
hoses on the test equipment and
the common rail pump are properly
connected.
Do not open the splash guard until
the EPS drive motor has come to a
standstill
Replace any leaky or faulty hose lines.
!
If a high-pressure hose connection is leaking,
the screw coupling must not be tightened any
more firmly. In the event of a leak, unfasten the
connection, clean the sealing surface and re-
connect the high-pressure hose.
Procedure:
1. In the EPS 945 software, call up the desired test
sequence in the 'Component selection' dialog box.
2. Call up the measurement screen.
3. Select test step '1'.
4. In the 'Measuring functions' selection menu,
activate the Automatic On/Off function.
 The automatic mode symbol flashes in the oper-
ating status display.
5. Press <F8> to start the test.
6. In the 'Measuring functions' selection menu,
activate the Channel detection function.
 The software automatically detects the active
measuring channels.
"
Test system and the CP4 are ready for the test.
