The Lumis™ HFT is a humidifier with an integrated flow generator that delivers warmed and
humidified respiratory gases to spontaneously breathing patients through a nasal cannula.

Indications for use
The Lumis HFT device is for the treatment of spontaneously breathing patients who would benefit
from receiving high flow warmed and humidified respiratory gases. The flow may be from
15-40 L/min.
The Lumis HFT is for patients > 30 kg in homes, hospitals and long-term care facilities.
The humidifier is intended for single patient use in the home environment and re-use in a
hospital/institutional environment.
Intended patient population/medical conditions
Obstructive pulmonary diseases (eg, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and chronic cough
with mucous production (bronchiectasis).
Contraindications
High flow therapy may be contraindicated in some patients with the following pre-existing
conditions:
•
patients with a level of acuity that would experience injury from loss of therapy (e.g. acute
respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress)
•
blocked nasal passages/choanal atresia
•
trauma/surgery to nasopharynx
•
invasive use.
Adverse effects
You should report unusual chest pain, severe headache, or increased breathlessness to your
prescribing physician. An acute upper respiratory tract infection may require temporary
discontinuation of treatment.
The following side effects may arise during the course of therapy with the device:
•
drying of the nose, mouth or throat
•
nosebleed
•
bloating
•
skin rashes.
