LIFT BAIL
A standard Lift Bail (3B) is a factory installed item on all
models. It is installed to achieve an optimum balance
when lifting. Note the brace used (Fig 1, Item 81) with
a given engine.
WARNING:
Check that the Lift Bail (3B)
mounting bolts are properly tightened [35 lb.-
ft. (47 N-m) torque] to the frame and cowl!
Check that the lifting bail and brace are mounted
in the proper position so that the saw DOES NOT tip to
the front or rear when lifted. Check that the lifting bolts
are tightened (Fig 1, Item 78) properly [70 lb.-ft. (95 N-
m) torque].

HOUR METER

An Hour Meter (1G) is a factory installed item on all gas
and diesel models. The Hour Meter (1G) will run
continuously with the Key Switch (1E) in the ON position.
DRIVE CHAIN AND SPROCKETS:
Check for wear and looseness. Tighten as required.
Do not over tighten the Drive Chain!! The
correct tightness allows for some slack.
Store in a safe place out of reach of children.
Remove all adjustment tools and wrenches.
Store diamond blade (2E) in a safe place so it
cannot be damaged.

BLADE SHAFT V-BELT TENSION

This saw is equipped with high tension banded V-belts. The
belts are properly tensioned at the factory but after a few
hours of operation they will stretch and become loose.
To Tension V-Belts:
Turn Engine Key Switch (1E) to the OFF position.
Using the wrench, loosen the horizontal clamping bolts
at the front of the engine base plate.
Turn the Tensioning Bolt [at the front of engine base
plate] CLOCKWISE until the V-Belts are tight.
Replace V-Belts in complete sets only.
Never tension V-Belts beyond the original
factory tension. Loose V-Belts result in poor
saw performance and short belt life.

IMPORTANT ADVISE

(See Fig. 2)
Tighten loose nuts and bolts regularly, particularly
after several hours of operation.
Check V-Belt tension regularly. Re-tighten
V-Belts as necessary. Replace V-Belts in complete
sets only.
Remove the Diamond Blade (2E) for storage. Store it
carefully.
Check the water spray over the Diamond Blade (2E)
periodically.
Tighten the Diamond Blade (2E) firmly on the Blade
Arbor.
Make sure the contact faces of Flanges (2B & 2F),
Diamond Blade (2E), and Blade Shaft (2I) are clean.
USE THE CORRECT DIAMOND OR
BLADE. For best performance, contact your TARGET
distributor for the correct blade specification. The
correct blade will make a tremendous difference in
blade cost and performance.
BEFORE MOUNTING THE BLADE (2E), inspect and
clean the Blade Shaft Flange (2F) and Arbor. Inspect
the Blade Arbor hole and Flange (2F) area for damage.
Mount the blade firmly on the Blade Shaft Arbor. The
Lock Pin in the Outer Blade Flange (2B) MUST go
completely through the blade and into the matching
hole on the Inside Blade Flange (2F). Tighten the
Blade Flange Nut (2A) securely, approximately [50 lb.-
ft. (68 N-m)].
WARNING: DO NOT operate without the proper
blade guard over the blade !
WARNING: DO NOT operate the saw with the
front of the Blade Guard (2H) raised!!
WARNING: Blade exposure CANNOT exceed
180 degrees when operating!
The Front Pointer (3C) and the Rear Pointer (3D) must
be checked for alignment with the blade (2E). Both
pointers (3C & 3D) must be in line with the blade
mounted on the Blade Shaft (2I).
WATER FLOW from 2-1/2 to 5 gallons (10 to 20
liters) of water per minute MUST flow over the
blade to properly cool it and to get maximum
blade life. DO NOT use conventional (wet)
diamond blades without water!
For WET SAWING, be sure the water jets in the Blade
Guard Water Tubes are open and that each side of the
blade has an adequate supply of water. Test the water
supply for pressure and quantity (flow) before starting
to saw. If the water supply is interrupted, stop
cutting immediately. The Water Safety Switch (1E)
should shut down the engine.
