FITTING THE BLADE
(See Fig. 1 and 2)
Always set the Engine Key Switch (1E) to the
OFF position before mounting the blade.
•
Set the Engine Key Switch (1E) to the OFF position.
•
Raise the machine to a high position [by cranking the
Raise/Lower Hand Wheel].
•
Loosen the bolt on the Blade Guard Latch (2G).
•
Raise the front half of the Blade Guard (2H).
•
Unscrew the Blade Shaft Nut (2A). Remove Outer
Flange (2B).
•
Fit Diamond Blade (2E) on the Blade Shaft Arbor.
•
Install Outer Flange (2B) into the Blade Shaft (2I)
making sure that the Locking Pin (2D) passes through
the Diamond Blade (2E) and into the Inner Flange
(2F).
Note the direction of rotation of the blade. The
direction of rotation is shown by an arrow on
both the Diamond Blade (2E) and the Blade
Guard (2H). Make sure that the contact surfaces on
the Diamond Blade (2E), Inner & Outer Flanges (2B &
2F) and Blade Arbor are clean.
•
Rotate Outer Flange (2B) and the Blade (2E) in the
opposite
direction of blade rotation to remove
backlash.
•
Install and tighten Blade Flange Nut using the Blade
Shaft Wrench [50 lb.-ft. (68 N-m)] while firmly holding
the Diamond Blade (2E).
•
Lower front half of Blade Guard (2H) and tighten the
Nut (2A) on the Blade Guard Latch (2G).
The Blade Shaft Nut (2A) on the Right Hand
side has Left Hand threads.

STARTING THE SAW
(See Fig. 1, 2, and 3)
Always pay extreme care and attention to
the preparation of the machine before
starting.
Remove all wrenches and tools from
the floor and the machine.
Always keep blade guard and transmission
guard in place.
•
Refer to the engine operating manual for proper engine
operation and detailed information.
•
Follow the operating instructions and warnings on top
of the saw cowl.
WARNING:
self-propelling drive system BEFORE starting
the engine.
•
Fill the fuel tank and check the engine oil level.
•
Close the Water Valve (3A).
•
Mark the surface to be cut by drawing a line where the
cut is to be made.
•
Loosen Knobs (1I), pull the Handle Bars (1H) in or out
to desired length and tighten the Knobs (1I).
•
Lower the Front Guide (3C). Align the Front Guide
(3C), Rear Guide (3D) and the Diamond Blade (2E)
with the line on the surface.
•
To start the saw when no water pressure is present,
push the reset button on the Water Safety Switch (1B).
•
Start the engine using the Engine Key Switch (1E).
Follow the procedure in the engine manual.
•
Let the engine warm up at half throttle. All sawing is
done at full throttle. The governor is factory set for the
correct engine speed.
•
When ready, open the Water Valve (3A) FULL open.
Test for adequate water supply
5 gal/min (10 to 20 lit./min)]. Low water flow
will cause damage to diamond blades. If water
supply is interrupted, stop cutting immediately.
See chart (Page 10) for the appropriate blade shaft and
engine speeds for specific blade sizes.
WARNING: To STOP ENGINE on the EC II-
18W, PUSH and HOLD DOWN the KILL BUTTON
(Fig. 8 - Item 3), located on the right-hand
center of the saw cowl, until ALL engine
movement stops. For all other models, turn
the KEY SWITCH (1E) to the OFF position and wait for
ALL engine movement to stop.
•
Move the saw forward or reverse slowly by pushing or
pulling on the Speed Control Lever (1J). Move the saw
slowly to prevent stalling the blade. Make sure the
Front Guide (3C), Rear Guide (3D) and the Diamond
Blade (2E) stay on the line.
