Install SmartDoor
A SmartDoor Wall Conversion Kit is available for wall installations. The Wall Conversion Kit
™
frames out exposed areas, giving your pet door installation a clean, smooth, finished look. For
brick, concrete, or block wall construction, additional tunnel extensions are available and required
for installation in any of these thicker wall applications. You may purchase a SmartDoor
Conversion Kit or tunnel extension through selected online websites, www.petsafe.net or by
calling our Customer Care Center at 1-800-732-2677. See "Replacement Parts and Accessories"
page 15.
Install SmartDoor
• Read this entire guide prior to cutting or modifying an opening in your door or wall. Do not proceed
with cut-out or installation until your SmartDoor
"Prepare" have been completed. Do not remove sensitivity sticker until installation has been
completed.
• If homeowner's door or other application is not level, the pet door must be marked level to swing
properly.

1A Measure and mark your pet's shoulder height on

interior side of door. Draw a level line at your pet's
shoulder height.
1B Determine location for the pet door. Draw a
vertical center line through the shoulder height
line using a level.
Helpful Tip: Mark shoulder height and vertical
center line lightly with pencil or on a piece of tape
so marks can easily be erased or removed.

Helpful Tip: Clamp or weight the door to prevent
it from moving.
Note:
The pet door can be installed with the
door hanging based on your skill level.
2C Match the marked lines on the door with the
shoulder and center lines on the template. Tape
the template in place.
When applying the template there should be a
minimum of 3" (7.6 cm) between the bottom and
sides of the door and the outer edge of the template
to maintain the structural integrity of the door.
