Service and storage
Caution: Before every service,
cleaning and storage stop the engine
and remove the spark plug cap.
•
Take care that all screw connections are
tightened.
•
Never store the mower with gasoline in fuel
tank in a building where gasoline vapours
may come in contact with open fires or
where sparks could ignite fumes.
•
The fuel tank should be emptied outdoors.
Use suitable containers for draining
gasoline.
•
Let the engine run until the gasoline
remaining in the carburettor is depleted.
•
Let the engine cool off prior to storage in an
enclosed area.
•
To avoid danger of fire, clean grass, leaves
or escaping grease (oil) off engine, muffler
and fuel tank.
•
On a regular basis, check the grass
catching device and check the ejection
shield for wear and tear and sound
operation.
•
For safety reasons, replace worn or
damaged parts.
•
Always wear protective gloves when
working near the cutting device's vicinity.
•
Servicing and repairs are only to be
conducted when engine is turned off and
when spark plug cap is removed.
•
For warranty purposes and safety reasons
only solo by AL-KO replacement parts
should be used.
Ensure that the tank is fully drained before any
maintenance, assembly, disassembly or
modification.
5 Preparing the equipment for use
5.1 Assembly
Prior to assembly make sure that the
Bowden cable (17) is not damaged.
When assembling and when folding or unfolding
the handle, take care not to jam, bend or
damage the Bowden cable! If necessary, shift
and twist the Bowden cable fixtures (18).
Procedure for attaching the upper part of the
handle
Place the free ends of the upper
part of the handle from the
outside on the lower parts of the
handle.
Insert the coach bolts
M8x45 mm on both sides of the
handle from the outside to the
inside through both parts of the
handle. Slip the curved washers
on the bolts and if necessary
turn the washers to fit them onto
the handle.
Tighten both butterfly nuts on
the curved washers.
Placing the starter grip in the rope eyelet
Release the engine brake by pushing the motor
release bracket (1) towards the mower handle.
Slowly pull the starter handle and rest the
starter grip (5) in the rope eyelet (4) on the
upper part of the handle.
5.2 Height adjustment of the handle
In order to allow different sized people back-
friendly mowing, the inclination and thus the
height of the handle is adjustable.
When adjusting the handle inclination,
take care not to jam, bend or damage the
Bowden cable (17)!

5.3 Grass catching device
Stop the engine prior to installing or
removing the grass catching device.
(Stopping the engine: See chap. 6.2)
The ejection shield (7) is designed for
your personal safety. The ejection shield
must be permanently closed when using the
lawn mower without grass catching device (6).
Loosen both butterfly
nuts (a) of the
clamping device.
Move the handle to
the desired position
within the clamping
blocks and make
sure that both lower
parts of the handle
are on the same
height in of the three
possible positions
and fit completely in
the clamping block
