TIMING LIGHT ___________________________________________________________________________
6.2 -
Advance with sensor
The timing light is set for magnetic sensors (sensors needing no power supply).
If when connecting all wires no measurement is obtained, probably the tested car
sensor is not a magnetic one.
•
In this case, to supply the sensor press the sensor selection key (6) for
1-2 seconds.
•
When the message NO MAG is displayed release the key.
The led indicating the sensor polarity will start blinking slowly and the sensor will be
supplied.
To reset a reading by magnetic sensors press the sensor selection key (6) for
1-2 seconds until displaying the message MAG NET.
•
Carry out the necessary connections and fit the sensor cable into the plug located
in the engine compartment (see pict. 1).
•
Press the Timing Light/sensor (8) key and make sure that the sensor advance
degrees led turns on (4).
•
Press the sensor selection key (6) and make sure that one of the two
led (5) or (7) related to the selected sensor turns on (positive or negative).
•
Make sure that the degrees display indicates the correct sensor phase
displacement with regard to the TDC (see Tab. 1). On the contrary, adjust the
value by turning the Deviator (10).
•
Start the engine and read the values (revolutions/degrees) in the relevant displays
and compare them to the manufacturer's ones. In case the displayed values do not
coincide (within the thresholds) adjust the pump orientation.
NOTA BENE:
The advance measurement has to be performed at a stable rpm.
