Checking the components and device preparation
The Sandman Duo™ or Sandman DuoST™ device is delivered in a carrying case
packaged with a detachable AC power cord, patient tubing, a filter, a patient manual,
and a memory card. Check the integrity of packaging when you receive the device.
Carefully examine the Sandman Duo™ or Sandman DuoST™ device and each accessory.
Check that the patient circuit is undamaged and that the mask supplied by the home
care provider has no cracks or other defect in the shell or bellows chamber.
If the device is equipped with an integrated humidifier, the water chamber is delivered
inside the carrying case, separate from the device. Check the condition of the water
chamber. If it is damaged, contact your home care provider.
To fill the water chamber and attach to the device, follow the instructions provided in
steps 1 to 4, "" (page 44).
If the device is not equipped with an integrated humidifier, the cover is delivered inside
the carrying case, separate from the device. Check the condition of the cover.
To install the cover on the device, set the base of cover in the dummy plate and tip it
forward to lock it in place.
If supplemental oxygen is to be introduced, you will also need an oxygen adapter
(optional) and a special one-way valve to prevent oxygen from accumulating in the
device when the device is halted (see "", page 44)".
Inspect the Sandman Duo™ or Sandman DuoST™ device and the detachable AC power
cord to make sure they are free of visible defects. Plug one end of the detachable AC
power cord into the power port of the device (item 6 of Figure 4 page 7) and the other
end into a wall power outlet, as described under "" (page 44). The device will be in the
same mode it was in (on/off) when last disconnected from the power cord.
In standby mode, the time and date are displayed (see Figure 2).
