• Take the Sidestream chamber and un-
screw the top of the chamber in an anti-
clockwise direction (6)
• Add the medicine and/or saline solution
to the chamber tank (7). Use doses rec-
ommended by a medical practitioner or
pharmacist.
• Close the chamber, tightening the top in
a clockwise direction
• Connect the tube to the chamber
• Connect the chamber to the required acces-
sory (x): adult or paediatric mask, nose fork,

The device can be powered from the

mains, with rechargeable batteries or

alkaline batteries only if absolutely nec-
essary. Refer to the paragraphs below for
instructions.
• Turn the device (9) on by pressing the on/off
switch and carry out the therapy
• Start inhalation. During treatment, the
chamber can be placed on its base.
• Carry out treatment preferably when
seated and in a comfortable position.
• When the aerosol flow becomes inter-
mittent, stop the treatment for a few
seconds and let the droplets of medi-
cine deposit on the walls of the cham-
ber. Start treatment again and end the
session when all nebulised medicine
has been expelled out of the chamber
• After treatment turn the device off, re-
move the accessory and clean the de-
mal
vice and accessories as indicated in the
section Cleaning and Maintenance.

Caution! When the device is running nor-
mally (whether from the mains or bat-
tery supply), no lights are illuminated.
In the case of malfunction or incorrectly
inserted / flat batteries, a warning LED
k
will illuminate, whose colour varies to
he
indicate the type of problem. See table 1
to interpret the warning lights.
Operation with mains power
• Connect the power lead to the trans-
former and device (10).
• Plug the device into the mains.
• After treatment, turn off the device, re-
move the plug from the socket, remove
the used accessory and clean the device
and accessories as indicated in the sec-
tion Cleaning and Maintenance

On pressing the on/off switch the device
is supplied by the transformer even if
batteries are inserted.
To avoid accidentally activating the bat-
tery recharge cycle, do not press the on/
off switch for more than 3 seconds.
Operation with rechargeable batteries
• Place the device on a flat surface with
sufficient space to carry out the neces-
sary manoeuvres.
• Open the battery compartment and
slide the flap to the release position,
using sufficient pressure.
• Take out the battery holder (11) positioned
inside, taking care not to pull on the con-
nected power lead. Careless extraction of
the battery holder or pulling on the power
leads may damage the device.
• Insert the batteries in the battery holder
one by one, taking care to:
- Insert the batteries with the positive and
negative terminals in the correct position
- Use only Ni-MH 1.2 V AA rechargeable bat-
teries with a capacity of 1500 – 2500 mAh
- Never insert used batteries whose ori-
gin is unknown or which are unidenti-
fied. Ensure the batteries used are as
indicated in this manual.
- The 8 batteries used in the device must
all have the same capacity and char-
acteristics; never mix batteries with
different capacities (such as 4 x 1500
mAh and 4 x 2500 mAh batteries). This
might seriously damage the batteries
during operation or recharging.
