4.3.3

Replacing the mask connector

1. Pull the inner mask out of the groove of the threaded ring.
2. Force open the clamping ring with a screwdriver (Figure G).
3. Remove the clamping ring, slip ring and support plate.
4. Pull the mask connector out of the mask body.
5. Fit the new mask connector with speech diaphragm and inhalation
and exhalation valves and insert the connector such that the
centre markings of the mask connector and mask body coincide.
6. Fit the slip ring and new clamping ring. Attach the hook to ensure
the tightest possible fit of the clamping ring.
7. Push the support plate between the clamping ring and the slip ring;
fit it into the lower visor frame and align it.
8. Compress the nose of the clamping ring with pliers until the mask
connector is securely located in the mask body.
9. Attach the inner mask.
4.3.4
Replacing the valve disc on the control valves of the
inner mask
1. Pull out the old valve disc towards the inside.
2. Insert the stud of the new valve disc into the hole from inside and
pull it towards the visor until the undercut of the stud is visible. The
valve disc must make even contact with the inside surface.
4.3.5

Replacing the speech diaphragm or O-ring

1. Pull the inner mask out of the groove of the threaded ring.
2. Unscrew the threaded ring with the pin wrench.
3. Turn the pin wrench and carefully insert it in the holes of the
protective grille. Do not damage the foil on the diaphragm.
4. Turn the speech diaphragm to release it and remove it (Figure H).
5. Remove the O-ring from the connector using the sealing ring lifter.
Check the speech diaphragm and O-ring, and replace if
necessary.
6. Attach the inner mask.

Replacing the exhalation valve disc

1. Remove the exhalation valve cover.
2. Grip the edge of the valve disc and pull the stud out of the hole.
3. Clean the valve seat.
4. Moisten the valve disc with water and insert it. The valve disc must
have even contact all around.
5. Fit the exhalation valve cover so that it clicks into place.
4.3.7

Replacing the inhalation valve disc

1. Pull out the inhalation valve at the flap.
2. Remove the old valve disc and fit the new disc.
3. Press the inhalation valve into the connector until it has even
contact all around. The valve disc must not be pinched. The disc
must face inwards, the shafts must point outwards.

Leak tests

Perform the leak test with a suitable test unit (e.g. from the Testor or
Quaestor series).
(1) Checking leak tightness
1. Moisten the face seal and exhalation valve with water.
2. Mount the full face mask to the test head.
3. Make sure that the face seal fits tightly onto all parts of the test
head. Inflate the test head, if necessary.
4. Seal the connector with the adapter and produce a negative
pressure of 10 mbar.
The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop is less than
1 mbar/min. If the full face mask leaks, continue with (2).
