At very low temperatures, the equipment wearer can reduce
mask fogging by either inhaling or holding his breath when
donning the mask.
1. Undo full face mask from retrieval position.
2. Pull head strap kit apart, then place chin into chin cup
(Figure C on page 3).
3. Pull the head strap kit over the head and draw back-

4. Adjust the full face mask.
5. Pull the straps until evenly tightened; first the neck
straps, then the temple straps, finally the front strap
(Figure D on page 3).
1. Prepare the helmet for use, see Instructions for Use of
the helmet.
2. Don helmet, leave chin strap open.
3. Take hold of both mask/helmet adapters, then place
the upper edge of the full face mask against the fore-
head.
4. Place chin in the mask's chin cup.
5. Simultaneously, pull both mask/helmet adapters to the
Mask/hel-

6. Adjust the full face mask. The entire sealing line must
be flush against the head. Push the mask under the
combination
front strap of the helmet or under the flame/heat barri-
er, if necessary.
7. Close the chin strap and check the tight fit of the hel-
met, re-tighten the chin strap if necessary.
8. Have a second person check the fit of the mask. The
mask/helmet adapters must be pulled tight, otherwise
adjust the position of the retaining plates at the hel-
met.

Checking for tight fit
1. Put breathing apparatus in the connector.
2. Turn and pull the breathing apparatus to check for tight
fit. Have a second person check the firmness and correct
connection.
3. Close the medium pressure hose with your thumb.
4. Inhale, then hold your breath. No entry of air should be
perceived, otherwise check the fit of the mask. The ex-
haled air must escape through the exhalation valve with-
out resistance.
P
5. Repeat the tight fit test twice.
6. Connect self-contained breathing apparatus or line
breathing apparatus.
Alternative leak test, which allows you to keep the breathing
apparatus connected to the self-contained breathing appara-
tus and the mask:
1. Close cylinder valve.
2. Inhale all air from the system, then carry out leak test.
3. Open the cylinder valve again.
There are two methods of checking the masks with RA, PE and ESA
connections:
with connected breathing apparatus or respirator filter
without breathing filter or breathing apparatus. This check does
not include the tight fit of the connection between mask and
breathing apparatus or mask and respirator filter.
