10 MAINTENANCE
Disconnect the power supply before any component changes or equipment
maintenance.
Generally, it is recommended to register the following operations:
- Check pressures and flows points works.
- Calibration of measuring tools according to the maker´s instructions.
- Periodic analysis of feed, permeated and concentrated water.
- Membrane operation and replacement starting data
- Cleaning and disinfection. Frequency and chemicals used.
- Stops. Conservation (preservation) of membranes.
- Equipment routine maintenance according to specifications.
- Registry of the incidents detected during the operation.
- Registry of energy consumption.
- Registry of reagent consumption.
This data provides the necessary means for the efficiency evaluation of the installation,
as well as a registry control of all system changes that may have an impact on the quality
of the product.
Regular PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE must be made to ensure the correct operation
of the equipment as long as possible consisting of:
- Replace the 5 microns cartridge filters when necessary. Its shelf life is between 3 and
6 months depending on the quality of the feed water. Do not exceed pressure drop of
1 bar. Perform manual cleanings in short periods of time, thus prolonging the durability
of the filter cloth.
- Keeping track of permeate water quality, flow and working pressure. After one year of
operation, the permeate flow rate will decrease by 10% to 15% because of membrane
fouling. Thus increase the working pressure to maintain the desired flow rate. In case
of any failure in the equipment, it will be assessed if the following actions are necessary
within the CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE:
If any failure in the equipment, it will be assessed if the following actions are necessary
within the CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE:
- Performing a chemical cleaning. Such cleaning may be acidic or alkaline depending on
the contamination type of the treated water. The frequency of it will also depend on the
operating hours of the equipment. Also, chemical cleaning of the membranes will be
required when the working pressure is higher than desired.
- Check the pretreatment operation to maintain the quality of the feed water of the
equipment.
