7.) Care and maintenance
Cleaning
The device can cleaned regularly (or after each use in maritime
environments) with a mild cleaning agent. After this, the device
must dry without artificial influences (direct heat). Moving parts can
be regularly lubricated with a resin, acid and silicone-free multi-
purpose oil which does not attack rubber, paint or plastic, or
a (PTFE) dry lubricant spray. The lanyard is made of PA and must
only be cleaned with warm water or a neutral cleaning agent. Never
use thinner or similar substances. Any cleaning agent residue
should be removed completely with clear water.
Storage and transport
The device should be stored in a dry, clean place and kept away
from corrosive or chemical substances. The device should be
protected from damage when being transported.
8.) Regular checks
The inspections (documented visual and functional checks) must
take place at least once a year (in accordance with EN) and should
be carried out by a qualified person in accordance with DGUV
guideline 312-906 (i.e. complying with national guidelines for PPE
inspection). When used by different people (more than 3 a day), the
check must be carried out every 6 months. The time intervals
should, however, be adjusted to the actual conditions of use. This
means that shorter intervals may be required, especially when
used in challenging ambient conditions. Maintenance (documented
disassembly and intensive inspection) must be carried out at least
once every 5 years and may only be carried out by SKYLOTEC or
a service company trained by Skylotec. Regular inspection and
maintenance depends on the actual lifting intervals and the
atmosphere (dust, moisture etc.) in which the Gordon / Gordon
Rescue is used. The device must be protected against contact with
third-party materials such as salts, oils, chemicals, paints and
against the impact of fire, welding flames and sparks, acids and
alkalis, and similar. During an inspection, a record card must be
completed for each product in accordance with Point 10) and
entered in the Skylotec Homebase.
