► Along high obstacles, route the perimeter wire with a
minimum clearance of 7.9 in. (20 cm) from the obstacle.
This buffer area will be left unmowed.
To reduce the buffer area which will be left unmowed, you
can lay edging stones or pavers around high obstacles, e.g.
walls.

11.11 Sloping Terrain in the Mowing Area

To install the perimeter wire at a slope with an incline of 5°
to 15°:
► Route the perimeter wire (1) past the top edge of the
slope, keeping a minimum clearance of a = 19.7 in.
(0.5 m).
► If the incline of the slope exceeds 15°, route the perimeter
wire in the flat area before the top edge of the slope. The
top edge of the slope and the slope itself should be
excluded from the mowing area.

11.12 Installing Reserve Wire

Installing reserve lengths of perimeter wire at regular
intervals near difficult passages will make it easier to modify
the installation of the perimeter wire or docking station if that
should become necessary.
To install reserve wire:
1
a
► Route the perimeter wire (1) between 2 wire stakes
spaced approximately a = 3.3 ft. (1 m) apart.
► Attach the reserve wire to the ground in the centre using a
further wire stake.

11.13 Using Wire Connectors

WARNING
To reduce serious or fatal injury or property damage from
fire or electric shock, use only wire connectors authorized by
STIHL.
Wire connectors are designed to link two loose ends of
perimeter wire to extend the perimeter wire or to connect
loose wire ends caused by a breakage, for example. They
are filled with gel to prevent premature wear, e.g. corrosion
of the wire ends.
► Make a note of the positions of the wire connectors on
your sketch of the mowing area, @ 11.2.
