11. Check: (For F30A, F40B, F50A)

• Overheat warning indicator
Checking steps:
• Start the engine.
NOTE:
Be sure to place the outboard motor in a test
tank before starting the engine.
• Move the shift lever to forward and oper-
ate the engine at trolling speed for at least
75 seconds.
• Disconnect the thermoswitch coupler, and
then ground the brown/black lead 1 (wir-
ing harness end) to check that the over-
heat warning indicator 3 comes on. (For
F30A, F40B)
• Disconnect the thermoswitch coupler, and
then ground the gray/black lead 2 (wiring
harness end) to check that the overheat
warning indicator 3 comes on. (For F50A)
• After the warning indicator is on for 5 sec-
onds, increase the engine speed and
check that the engine speed is controlled
to about 2,000 r/min.
• Disconnect the brown/black lead from the
ground, and then connect the ther-
moswitch coupler. (For F30A, F40B)
• Disconnect the gray/black lead from the
ground, and then connect the ther-
moswitch coupler. (For F50A)
