OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL
EPDM TANKS
6. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Maintenance must only be carried out by authorised personnel.
At least once a year, it must be checked that the value of the pre-charge pressure P0 of the
accumulator remains within the values indicated in the previous section, taking care to do
so by contrasting the values at the same temperature. For this purpose, it is necessary to,
•
Close the valve that connects the tank to the system.
•
Empty the hydro-pneumatic accumulator of water.
•
Once the water has been drained, the pressure is checked via the accumulator valve.
•
If the measured pressure deviation from the precharge pressure P0 is more than +/- 20%,
adjust to the original value P0, following the instructions in section 7 of the operating
instructions.
Periodic inspections must be carried out in accordance with the Pressure Equipment
Regulations (REP).
Only original components from the manufacturer of the hydro-pneumatic accumulator may
be used as spare parts.
7. DISASSEMBLY
Never dismantle the hydro-pneumatic accumulator without first depressurising the system
and the air chamber to safe values. Before disassembling the accumulator, make sure that
all parts exposed to pressure are depressurised.
Isolate the hydro-pneumatic accumulator from the water circuit.
If the pressure measured through the inflation valve is higher than 4 bar, first reduce the
pressure by venting through the valve (air chamber) to 4 bar, then drain the hydro-pneumatic
accumulator of water. Finally, vent through the inflation valve, reducing the air pressure until
the hydro-pneumatic accumulator is completely depressurised.
When replacing the hydro-pneumatic accumulator, under no circumstances should the tank
be removed before the installation has been depressurised and the water temperature is
below 35ºC.
The hydropneumatic accumulators of the DEP series are models with a replaceable
diaphragm. If the diaphragm breaks, it can be replaced by a new one without having to
replace the entire accumulator. In this case, please ask for replacement instructions.
