Replacing backing disc (Fig. 5)
Caution!
A worn or damaged backing disc must be re-
placed immediately! Never operate your EP/A
with a defective backing disc or defective poli-
shing tools! Risk of breakage and injuries!
The foam backing pad is pre-assembled on de-
livery of the random orbital polisher.
If it needs to be replaced, simply proceed as follows:
1. Slide the supplied wrench onto the fl ats of
the shaft to hold the shaft in place.
2. Remove old backing disc and screw on new
backing disc
The foam backing pad is also available as a
spare part under article number 29098. For
Proxxon polishing tools with a diameter of 30
mm, a version with a diameter of 30 mm is
available under article number 29074.

7 Working with the device
• Never work without dust protection mask and
safety glasses. Some dusts have a hazardous
effect! Materials containing asbestos may not
be machined!
• Do not work with damaged tools!
• Ensure the work piece is fi xed securely! Loo-
se work pieces should be clamped in a sui-
table fi xture. This prevents the work pieces
from fl ying about.
• A correct and uniform speed achieves a high
performance, not excessive contact pressu-
re! Excessive pressure is to be avoided: it
only stresses the device and can even dama-
ge the bits and cutters!
• Hold the device without covering the ventila-
tion slots. If it overheats, you absolutely must
shut off the device and allow it to cool down.
