18.1
Operations preparation
Check before starting the grinding process:
• Workpiece is firmly fixed
• Grinding wheel is checked (damage, tight fit)
• Distance between grinding wheel and workpiece: > 2mm in Z-axis direction
• Correct direction of rotation of grinding wheel
Check oil levels:
Check the oil levels and top up with oil if necessary.
Check coolant:
Check the coolant level and top up the coolant if necessary.
18.2
Retracting the machine
When the machine is in operation, the central lubrication pump automatically and
intermittently delivers oil to all lubrication points. If the oil is below the lower limit, top
up the oil immediately. Before the test run, let the machine run for approx. 20 min at
standstill until all guides have been lubricated and then start the test run. Otherwise,
serious damage may be caused.
Before starting the machine, make sure that you have followed all assembly and
adjustment instructions, that you have read the instructions and that you are familiar
with the various functions and safety features of this machine. Disregarding this
warning may result in serious injury or even death!
After assembly is complete, test the machine to ensure that it is functioning properly and ready for
regular operation. This is done without a clamped workpiece. Perform the test as described below.
18.2.1
Performing a test run
1.
Make sure that you have understood the safety instructions in this manual and that all
other assembly steps have been completed.
2. Make sure that the necessary operating liquids (hydraulic oil, machine oil of central
lubrication, coolant, etc.) have been filled up.
3. Make sure that all tools and objects used during setup are removed from the machine.
4. Check the ease of movement of all travels by turning the hand wheels.
5. Set the potentiometer table travel Y-axis to minimum.
6. Set the control lever speed X-axis to STOP.
7. Set all adjustment cams to approximately the middle position.
8. Connect the machine to the power source and turn the main switch to the ON position.
9. Turn the Emergency Stop clockwise until it pops out.
10. Set switch the selector switch magnetic switch to magnetize and the selector switch to
automatic mode.
11. Switch on the hydraulic pump and the grinding wheel on the operation display.
12. Make sure that the coolant pump is switched off.
13. Press the grinding cycle start button and turn the control lever speed X-axis slowly to the
left and the machine starts. When properly operated, the machine runs smoothly with little
or no vibration or friction.
14. Observe whether the grinding table changes direction when the adjustment cams reaches
the limit switches.
15. After a few changes of direction, press the emergency stop switch. The machine stops.
