Information
The food grade quality provided by PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 has been tested and confirmed by independent institutes.
Product-specific certifications are located on the label, manual, the respective communication tools and also at www.brita.net.
Storage Tank
Caution
!
Storage tanks are provided in the PROGUARD accessory portfolio.
The tank pressure (1.0 bar ± 0.2 bar) should be checked at least (!) yearly.
Details concerning manufacturer, year of manufacture, serial number and the technical data are provided on the label and
tank itself.
An inert gas, for instance nitrogen, MUST be used for the gas recharge.
3 General Product Information
3.1 How Reverse Osmosis works in PROGUARD Gastronomy 200
PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 uses an electrical pump to force water molecules through semi-
permeable membranes. The concentrate of PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 with its concentrated
amount of scale, gypsum, sodium chloride and sodium sulphate will be released to the drain.
The permeate however is nearly free of ions and molecules other than water and carbon dioxide.
3.2 Role and Functionality of The Main Components of PROGUARD Gastronomy 200
Pre-filter cartridge:
An activated carbon block is used in the pre-filter as a filter medium to protect the membranes in the PROGUARD Gastronomy
system.
Membrane cartridges
The RO System is running with 2 membrane cartridges, which remove ≥ 97% of all salts in the water, e.g., sodium chloride and
sodium sulphate. The resulting water is called permeate.
Pump
A built-in electric pump runs the system and pumps the filtrate to the downstream machine or into the (optional) downstream
storage tank and releases the concentrate-effluent to the drain. A minimum mains water pressure of 1 bar is required and
a maximum of 6.0 bar.
Storage tank
Is offered in the accessory portfolio. Acts as a filtrate reservoir to provide sufficient filtrate when the machine's water demand
exceeds the regular filtrate output of PROGUARD Gastronomy 200.
Bypass
The adjustable bypass valve provides machine-based mineralization levels configurable through the blending of raw water.
This is especially important for boiler ovens requiring a specific level of mineralization stipulated in manufacturer's individual
specifications.
Automatic flushing
The system has an automatic flushing mechanism. After each operation time and every 6 hours after stagnation the membranes
are flushed for approx. 1 min to keep the high quality filtrate level even during stagnation times.
Emergency bypass
Ensures sufficient feed water to run the machine at any time, even if the RO system is not working
properly. The emergency bypass function, which, if the system is locked, re-routes the entire input
water directly to the output by opening the solenoid valve. Doing so, even if just pre-filtered, water can
be delivered while waiting for technical support. Flip the switch on the back of the unit to activate the
emergency bypass.
