7.4. Checking the air filter element
a. Move the choke lever to the CLOSED position.
b. Remove the air filter cap releasing the supper guide at the top of the cap and the two lower guides.
c. Check the air filter element to make sure it is clean and in good condition. If necessary, wash it in water and mild detergent and
moistened it with oil.
d. Reinstall the element and the cap by inserting the two lower guides and then the upper guide. Replace the element if it is
damaged.
CAUTION!
Use water and mild detergent to clean the air filter element. Using solvents may result in fire or explosion.
WARNING!
Never use the engine without the air filter. Contaminants such as dirt and dust which will be sucked inside the
engine by the carburetor may wear the engine faster.
7.5. Checking and adjusting the throttle cable
a. Remove the air filter cap
b. Check for gaps in the throttle cable at the end of the cable by pulling and releasing the throttle lever a few times.
If the gap is more than 0.5–2.5 mm, loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting nut inside or outside as needed to obtain the correct
gap.
