Product Specific Safety Rules
•
Wear ear protectors with impact drills. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
•
Use auxiliary handles when supplied with the tool. Loss of control can cause personal injury.
•
Hold tool by insulating gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring. Contact
with a "live" wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool "live" and shock the operator.
•
When a suspension device is used, ensure that it is securely fastened. Failure to secure may result in loss of control, unexpected motion, or
dropping of the tool.
•
Keep clear of pinch point between reaction bar or support handles and any fixed object in work area. Pinching or other injury may occur.
•
Anticipate the torque reaction developed when the drill bit snags or binds, which occurs when breaking through the material being
drilled or when heavily loaded. If it snags or binds, the torque reaction will suddenly increase which may cause loss of control. If it
snags or binds, release the trigger.
•
Do not use any drill bits or other accessory having a maximum operating speed less than the free speed of the drill/driver. They may
break causing injury.
•
Securely tighten drill bits or other accessories in the chuck before operating the drill/driver. They can become projectiles when
drill/driver is started.
•
For reversible models, note the position of the reversing mechanism before operating. Knowledge of the direction of rotation helps in
maintaining control of the tool.
•
Use only bits, sockets and adapters which are in good condition and are intended for use with power tools. Use only impact sockets
and accessories. Do not use hand (chrome) sockets or accessories since the torque will cause them to break in use.
•
Drill/Drivers are not torque wrenches. Connections requiring specific torque must be checked with a torque meter after fitting with
a drill/driver. Improperly torqued fasteners may loosen and cause injury.
•
Exposed throttles shall not be used where obstructions can hold the throttle in the "on" position. You may not be able to turn the tool
off.
•
On Angle Tools, whenever the Angle Head is installed or repositioned, the Throttle Lever must be positioned so that reaction torque
will not tend to retain the throttle in the "ON" position. You may not be able to turn the tool off.
