Electrical properties of the substrate - the eddy current method

measurement it is recommended that the calibration of the
device be carried out on a substrate with the same properties as
the metal base of the measured element.
The radius of curvature of the substrate - the smaller the radius

of curvature, the greater the effect on the measurement. Refer
to the permissible range of the radius of curvature of the
substrate in the table of parameters and then calibrate the
device accordingly to the measurement.
Surface roughness of the substrate - the greater the surface
•
roughness of the substrate, the greater the effect on the
measurement result. For the measurement of the coating, select
several different measuring locations and the eventual thickness
can be statistically calculated from the arithmetic mean.
Deformation of the substrate or the paint film - if the substrate
•
or the paint film is very soft, applying the probe too hard may
temporarily slightly deform it, which will affect the measurement
result.
Environmental conditions - ambient temperature and humidity
•
will affect the measurement result, therefore the instrument
should be calibrated under the same environmental conditions
beforehand.
Measurement method, probe pressure and probe orientation -

the probe should be applied vertically, perpendicular to the
surface to be measured and pressed quickly and firmly. If an
incorrect measurement is suspected, the suspected result should
be erased before subsequent measurements.
