close perfectly; the cable is fully positioned inside the pulleys; the pulley and the
cable do not lean against or rub on sharp edges and/or abrasive materials.
4) WARNINGS. EASY RESCUE is designed for use on cables with a diameter of
Ø 20÷60 mm and maximum inclination 50°. Breaking strength 28 kN, working
load 5 kN, maximum speed permitted 2 m/s (Fig. 5). The device has 3 pulleys:
during normal use only the two external pulleys come into operation; in the event
that the device is subjected to excessive load, with relative strain on the side-
plates, the central pulley will come into operation as a safety system. Warning! If
the safety system comes into operation, stop using the pulley as soon as possible
and replace it immediately. The device has been designed to be used in weather
conditions that can normally be withstood by humans (temperature of use within
-30°C and +40°C). In any case, be particularly cautious in certain weather
conditions (e.g. ice or wet) that may affect the smoothness or stability of the pul-
leys. Warning! Be careful not to trap body parts (fingers, hair etc.) between the
moving parts (pulleys) and the sliding cable. All the materials and treatments are
hypoallergenic and do not cause skin irritation or sensitivity. Main materials: alu-
minium (hook body, side-plates); stainless steel (pins, levers); polyamide (pulleys).
Attention! Do not apply loads on the connector lever.
5) EN 795 SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS. Any activity carried out at a height of
more than two metres requires the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as a
protection against the risk of a fall. Before accessing the work station, all the risk
factors must be evaluated (environmental, concomitant, consequential).
5.1 - Periodic check. At least every 12 months (6 months for usage in the sea),
a rigorous check of the device must be carried out by the manufacturer or expert
staff expressly certified by the manufacturer. This frequency can vary depending
on the frequency and intensity of usage. Performing periodic checks on a regular
basis is essential to ensure the continued efficiency and durability of the device, on
which the safety of the user depends. The results of the checks will be related on
the appropriate form that is supplied with every device and that must accompany
the device. Warning! If the form is missing, or illegible, do not use the device.

5.2 - Specific warnings. Before every usage, it is compulsory to: check that the
system is correctly assembled and that all the components can operate without
interfering with one another; ensure that all the devices display the correct stand-
ard reference and are in perfect working order; ensure that the maintenance
documents of every device are updated correctly; carefully consider the safest
access way, be suitably equipped and have a rescue plan to recover an operator
in difficulty; check, in a fall arrest system, the free space required below the user
in the workplace, so that in case of a fall there is no collision with the ground nor

the presence of other obstacles in the path of the fall. During every use, it is com-
pulsory to: to make sure that the device or the anchor point are always correctly
positioned and that the work is carried out in such as way as to reduce the risk
and the fall height to a minimum, in order to ensure the safety of the operator.
Warning! Always bear in mind the length of the devices used.
5.3 - Installation. The anchor devices must be installed by qualified persons or
organisations. To connect the Easy Rescue to the cable (Fig. 6) carry out the
following operations: open the connector by first squeezing the safety lever (1)
and then pushing the opening lever inwards (2) (Fig. 6.1); insert the pulley on the
cable, making sure that the cable is correctly placed in the groove of the pulleys
(Fig. 6.2); close the connector by releasing the levers (Fig. 6.3). To stabilise the
anchor, connect the apparatus using a rope connected to the quick-link and a sec-
ond anchor using connectors (EN 362) in order to adjust the position (Fig. 3.2).
Before using the device, check it is correctly installed by carrying out some tests
by hand: the device or its components should not move in relation to the cable. To
connect the fall protection system only use a EN 362 certified connector attached
in the anchor hole (Fig. 3.2). Attention! Always check that all the levers of the
connectors present in the system are closed and locked. According to the type of
system and apparatus in use, check which point of attachment to the harness is
required, since full body harnesses are the only body containment devices which
can be used in a fall arrest system. Warning! If the device's marking is not easily
accessible after installation, affix an additional marking near the anchor.
5.4 - Instructions for use. The anchor device is intended for maximum use by three
persons at a time. If the device is used as an anchor in anti-fall system, always
use a device that limits the maximum dynamic force exerted on the user during a
possible fall arrest to a maximum of 6 kN (e.g. EN 360 retractable fall arrester -
Fig. 7.1). It is recommended to place a mark on the device indicating the date of
the last check carried out and the next to be carried out. The anchor device is only
intended for use with anti-fall protection devices, not for lifting gear.
6) SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS EN 1909.
uring all rescue operations, belaying must always be achievable using a safety
system hooked to the cable, upstream of the pulley (Fig. 7.1).
6.1 - Installation on the cable. Connect the safety system to the cable. Connect
the Easy Rescue to the abdominal ring (EN 813) of the harness using a cow's
tail and a connector attached to the anchor hole. Connect the Easy Rescue to
the cable (Fig. 6): open the connector by first squeezing the safety lever (1) and
then pushing the opening lever inwards (2) (Fig. 6.1); insert the pulley onto the
cable, making sure that the cable is correctly positioned in the groove of the pul-
leys (Fig. 6.2); close the connector by releasing the levers (Fig. 6.3). Tension the
system without knocks or jumps, making sure that all the components (especially
the connectors) work in the right direction. Attention! Always check that all the
levers of the components present in the system are closed and locked. Connect
the speed control and stopping rope using a connector in the quick-link of the
Easy Rescue. To improve sliding on the cable and decrease the wear and tear of
the self-locking connector, it is advised to place the self-locking connector in the
dedicated slot (Fig. 8).
6.2 - Instructions for use. Adjust movement speed on the cable and any carry
out stops using a rope controlled by a braking device (belay or rappel device).
Maximum speed permitted 2 m/s. Attention! Any impact against an obstacle can
cause serious injury, even death.
6.3 - Evacution methods. The evacuation of a ski lift can take place in one of two
ways, which depend of the type of system (chair lift, cable car) and on the con-
figuration of the underlying terrain: 1) rescuer access along the cable; 2) rescuer
access over the ground.
6.3.1 / Rescuer access along the cable (Fig. 7). 1) Operators A and B, wearing
the helmet (1) and the complete harness (2), climb up the pylon uphill from the
chair/cabin from which people are to be evacuated, each protecting themselves
with a fall arrester device (3) (Fig. 7.2). 2) At the top of the pylon, operators A
and B protect themselves with work positioning lanyards (4). Operator B creates
an anchor point on the structure of the pylon to which he connects a self-braking
descender (5) into which he inserts the command rope (6), connected to the Easy
Rescue (7). Operator A fits the rescue pulley onto the cable and attaches himself to
it using a second self-braking descender (8) on the descent rope (9). In addition,
the operator connects a retractable type fall arrester (10) between the chest ring
of the harness and the lift cable, placing it in the apposite slot of the rescue pulley.
Now operator B can start lowering. Operator B lowers A down along the cable,
using the command rope, until he reaches the first chair (Fig. 7.3). 3) Operator
A sets up, on a multi-anchor anchor plate (11) connected to the rescue pulley, an
adjustable sling with loops (12) and lowers himself, using his own self-braking de-
scender (8), until he reaches the chair. 4) Operator A fits each of the people to be
rescued with evacuation triangles (13) and secures them to the chairlift. Operator
A connects to the lowest loop of the looped sling (12) a self-braking descender
(14) into which he inserts the rescue rope (15). He can then lift the chair's safety
bar, connects the rescue rope to the evacuation triangle (13) of the first person to
be rescued and disconnects them from the chairlift and lowers them to the ground
using the self-braking descender (14) (Fig. 7.4). 5) This procedure is repeated until
the chairlift has been completely evacuated.
