If the use of compressed air line breathing apparatus involves the work of the operator at a big
distance from the air source, the presence of a second operator near the same source is highly
recommended
The compressed breathable air used for feeding the RC and RL respirators shall always comply with
the requirements of the EN12021 standard.
If the apparatus is used in combination with a back up system BVF-BU (31) carefully check that it is
set to give an alarm when in use (32).
The use of non original spares or parts voids CE approval and manufacturer's warranty.

DIMENSIONS WEIGHT DURATION
The following table gives only an example of the cylinders available at Spasciani. Different cylinders
and cylinders packs can be used provided that they comply with the relevant requirements in the Country
of application and that they are filled with breathable air according to EN 12021.

At 300 bar the formula PxV to calculate the volume of available air is not valid any more as the
compressibility factor that reduces the volume of some 8%.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
6.1
RC
Compressed air from Cylinder (s) (2) is reduced in pressure by the pressure reducer RB (3) at 5.5 bar and
led to the Automatic Demand Valve (4) connected to the Face Mask (5)
After the first inhalation which releases the device (17), the Demand Valve injects the necessary quantity of
air into the mask and keeps a positive pressure no matter what the demand.
As soon the pressure decreases below the alarm set point (55 +/- 5 bars for the reducer mounted on the
little trolley and 35 +/- 5 for the others) the medium pressure suddenly increases to 8 bar thus actuating the
Audible Warning at the mask. With every inhalation it is then produced a sounding vibration which will
continue till the air reserve is completely used up.
The warning is repeated by a special device positioned on the RB reducer block that intermittently sounds
to catch the assistant's attention. This device stops sounding only at the complete exhaustion of the air.
6.2
RL
The RL air line shall be fed at 5.5 bar. If the air is delivered from a compressor, the audible warning at the
mask cannot operate. When air comes from a compressor, make sure that air is duly filtered and free from
particles or droplets. (EN 12021)
To set up a system fitted with audible warning it is necessary to have a high pressure cylinder pack and feed
the line by means of a pressure reducer type RB (3) with warning device (21). The operation is then the
same as that described for the RC respirator under par. 7.1.
