Safety Information
WARNING Electrical Hazard
The equipment contains live electrical circuits.
Always switch off and unplug the power before re-
►
moving any panels or lids.
The removal of the plug has to be such that the op-
►
erator can check from any of the points to which he
has access, that the plug remains removed.
Cleaning Instruction
Equipment should be wiped off with a damp/wetted cloth.
Only use water, no cleaners containing solvents should be
used.
Contact your Atlas Copco service technician for cleaning ad-
vice as per current recommendations and for your particular
tool.
Regular Cable Inspections
Regularly inspect the power cable and the tool cable. If the
cables show any sign of damage, replace them.
Preventing ESD Problems
The components inside the product and controller are sensi-
tive to electrostatic discharge. To avoid future malfunction,
make sure that service and maintenance is carried out in an
ESD approved work environment. The figure below shows
an example of an appropriate service work station.
Electrical Safety
WARNING This apparatus must be earthed.
• Earthed equipment must be plugged into a socket
that has been properly installed and earthed accord-
ing to appropriate regulations. Never remove the
earth pin or modify the plug in any way. Do not use
any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if
you are in any doubt as to whether the outlet is properly
earthed. Should the equipment suffer electronic malfunc-
tion or breakdown, the earth provides a low resistance
path to carry electricity away from the user. Applicable
only to Class I (earthed) equipment.
• Disconnect from the power supply before servicing.
• Failure to comply with these operating instructions may
impair the safety of this equipment.

• Only use the cord supplied with the controller to connect
to the mains, and the cord supplied with the tool to con-
nect to the controller. Do not modify the cords or use
them for other purposes. Use only genuine replacement
parts.
• Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric
shock.
• Must not be used in explosive atmospheres.
• Avoid physical contact with grounded surfaces such
as pipes, radiators, ovens and refrigerators. There is
an increased risk of electric shock if your body is
grounded.
• Do not expose the equipment to rain or wet condi-
tions. Water entering the equipment will increase the
risk of electric shock. This instruction does not apply to
equipment classified as watertight or splash proof.
• For minimum electrical interference, locate the equip-
ment as far as possible from sources of electrical noise,
e.g. arc welding equipment etc.
• Do not abuse the power lead. Never use the power lead
to carry the equipment or to pull the plug from a socket.
Keep the power lead away from heat, oil, sharp edges or
moving parts. Replace damaged leads immediately.
Damaged leads increase the risk of electric shock.
• When working simultaneously with welding equipment,
the work piece must be earthed separately while welding
is in progress. This is to prevent the return current pass-
ing through the controller earth cables, in case the return
lines for the welding equipment have not been mounted
correctly on the work piece. Atlas Copco recommends
that earthing be carried out with a conductor area at least
as large as the return line for the welding equipment be-
ing used.
Warning Sticker: Crushing of Hands
CAUTION Crushing Hazard
Never put your hand between the lid and housing unless
you are in the process of closing or opening the lid. If
the controller is positioned on its rear with the front up-
wards and the lid is in an open position, the uninten-
tional closing of the lid could result in the crushing of
hands or fingers.
This safety sticker is positioned on the rear of the front lid.
