2.4 Motor energy efficiency information
All electric pumps use motors compliant with reg. 640/2009 EC and subsequent
amendments, therefore compliant with efficiency class IE3 (three-phase versions
with power greater than 0.55 kW). Additional information about motor
energy performance is available online and on the motor rating plate.
2.5 Pump energy efficiency information
All pumps comply with Reg. (EC) No 547/2012. The MEI energy efficiency
index is greater than or equal to 0.4 (MEI Benchmark 0.7). Refer to the
rating plate and label attached to this manual for any information regarding
the pump. The machine performance curves, efficiency characteristics and
energy performance details are available online.
3 APPLICATIONS AND USE
3.1 Permitted use
These appliances are designed for professional use in applications such as water
supply from groundwater, pressure increase, irrigation or heat transfer fluid
circulation. They can be used in the industrial, manufacturing or equivalent
fields. The electric pumps can also be used in the domestic, commercial,
agricultural, artisan or tertiary sectors, for the same applications, exclusively at a
temperature not exceeding 85°C.
NOTE: For other applications the maximum temperature allowed is 120°C.
Electric pumps must be installed in dry areas and protected from flooding.
The electric pump can work continuously at the maximum room
temperature indicated on the motor rating plate. For bare shaft pumps,
follow the motor manufacturer's indications.
3.2 Pumped liquids
Clean liquids, compatible with the electric pump component materials. A
liquid must have physical characteristics similar to those of clean water
at room temperature (1030 kg/m
viscosity. If these limits are exceeded, contact the manufacturer).
Improper use can result in overheating of the machine and power cables,
with consequences such as failure and potentially fire.
Any sand content in the water must not exceed 50 g/m3. Higher sand
concentrations will reduce the electric pump service life and increase the risk of
blockage. Any suspended solids must not exceed 2 mm in maximum size.
Water intended for human consumption: only models with WRAS certification, at
a maximum temperature of 85°C.
3.3 Conditions of use
• Maximum operating pressure (pump delivery pressure, obtained by the sum of
the pump inlet pressure and the pressure increase supplied by the pump): see
the rating plate. The maximum pressure at the appliance inlet is determined by
the pressure increase created by the pump, so as not to exceed the maximum
operating pressure (see the section dedicated to the calculation).
• Flow rate and head: during normal operation, they must fall within the fields
indicated on the rating plate. Under these conditions, optimal machine
operation is achieved.
• Sucked liquid maximum temperature: 85°C or 120°C depending on use (see
paragraph 3.1).
• Sucked liquid minimum temperature: -30°C (EPDM gaskets); -10°C (Viton®/
FKM gaskets)
• Room temperature: maximum 40°C up to 1000 m altitude. If these limits are
exceeded, contact the manufacturer.
• Electrical supply voltage: refer to the motor rating plate. The maximum
deviation allowed is 6%.
• Maximum number of consecutive hourly start-ups: for electric pumps with
standard motor, see fig. A4 (in the appendix). For bare shaft pumps, follow the
instructions of the motor manufacturer.
3.4 Non-permitted use
Do not use the electric pump for applications other than those described
above and, in any case, not authorised by the manufacturer. Improper use may
cause serious damage (including death) to people, animals, objects and the
environment.
Do not use the electric pump connected to swimming pools, basins,
ponds and in similar places when people are in the water.
• Do not pump food liquids or human food products.
• Do not pump any liquids that are more viscous and/or denser than water,
unless specifically authorised by the Manufacturer.

VERTICAL MULTISTAGE ELECTRIC PUMPS
• Do not use the machine in potentially explosive environments or with
flammable liquids.
• Do not run the machine without any liquid.
• To avoid overheating, do not run the electric pump continuously at a flow rate
of zero or lower than 10% of the rated value. If the temperature of the inlet
liquid exceeds 90°C, increase the minimum flow rate to 20% of the nominal
value.
• Do not exceed the maximum pressure indicated on the rating plate.
3.5 Other uses
Contact the Manufacturer if:
• The liquid to be pumped has a viscosity or density higher than that of the water
(it will be necessary to use a motor with a proportionally greater power)
• The water to be pumped is chemically treated (softened, chlorinated, purified,
etc.)
• Any situation other than those listed under permitted use occurs.
4 INSTALLATION – GENERAL
The appliance must be installed in accordance with the instructions in this manual.
The appliance and terminals of the power supply cable must be protected against
water, humidity and atmospheric agents. Check the protection rating (IP)
indicated on the motor rating plate. Install in a location not subject to flooding.
Before starting work on the machine, make sure that it has been
disconnected from the power supply network and that it cannot be
accidentally reconnected.
Always use the required PPE (refer to the relative section).
If required in relation to the conditions of use and the working environment, we
suggest installing adequate devices to immediately perform an emergency stop
of the machine.
4.1 Electrical connections
The connections must be exclusively performed by expert, authorised
personnel and in compliance with legal obligations, current regulations,
consolidated technical practices and the following provisions.
The appliance is designed exclusively for fixed applications (the power cable
cannot be disconnected and reconnected by the user).
Use electrical cables of type and section as per table A22 (in the appendix) and
relative cable glands. Open one of the passageways on the terminal block cover
and install the cable gland, tightening to the torque shown in the table. The end of
the conductors must be fitted with eyelet terminals (see table A22). The earthing
conductor must be longer than the other conductors (in case of cable pull, the
earthing conductor must be the last to be disconnected). Once wiring is complete,
remove the sponge under the terminal block.
The supply cable terminals must be connected in an electrical panel with at
least an IP55 protection rating, equipped with cable mechanical fixing systems
independent of electrical terminals, and an omni-polar cut off switch.
Make sure the rating plate details match the rated voltage and frequency values.
Always connect the earthing cable to the electric pump and check the earthing
circuit effectiveness before the first start-up and then every month.
The installer is responsible for making connections in accordance with the
regulations in force in the country of installation.
The appliance must be powered by a residual current device, with residual
operating current of no more than 30 mA.
Three-phase appliances must be protected against short-circuits and overloads
by a class 10 protection device, in accordance with IEC 60947-4. Set the rated
current according to the value shown on the rating plate. Use a manual reset
device.
4.2 Single-phase versions
Power the electric pump by using a single-pole, phase cut-off switch or a bipolar
switch. The direction of rotation of the electric pumps does not require any
checks. For bare shaft pumps, refer to the marking on the pump (fig A3).
4.3 Three-phase versions
Power the pump via an overvoltage category III omni-polar cut-off switch, to be
set up in the power supply line in accordance with the regulations in force.
CAUTION: Check which configuration of the electrical connections corresponds
to the available mains voltage on the rating plate and on the marking inside the
terminal block cover. If required, change the configuration by moving the jumpers
to the appropriate terminals (see fig. A22). At the end of the operation, check that
the electrical connections are secure and stable.
