- Make sure the terminal clamps are firmly seated.
- Take components such as terminal covers, elbows, vent pipe connection and
terminal holders (when present) from the replaced battery and place them in their
corresponding positions.
- Leave at least one vent open as, otherwise there is a danger of explosion.
This also applies when old batteries are being returned.
- Elbows and filler caps are available. See information in the order section of the catalogue.
Only use adapters supplied along with the battery and make sure that the adapter is firmly
seated. In the case of VW/Audi vehicles a strake adapter may be required. Insert this
adapter firmly into the strake borings on the front and back of the battery. In the case of
Ford vehicles a terminal adapter may be necessary.
Place this adapter on the positive or negative terminal and screw firmly in place with
the cable connection.
2. External charging
- Only use a suitable direct current charger. Follow its instructions for use.
- Recommendation:
Charging current: 1/10 Ampere of the battery capacity Ah
Charging voltage: 14,4 V for 12 V Batteries
- Never charge frozen batteries or batteries with a temperature greater than 45°C
or warm to the touch.
- Connect the positive terminal (+) of the battery with the positive terminal of the charger,
and the negative terminal of the battery with the negative terminal of the charger.
- Do not turn on the charger until the battery has been fully connected.
- When charging is complete, first turn off the charger.
- Stop charging if the battery becomes hot or acid escapes!
- The battery is fully charged when (see indication in the operating manual for the charger)
in the case of voltage regulated chargers current and voltage remain constant; in the case
of current regulated chargers when the charging voltage has stopped rising, shuts off the
automatic charger or switches it over to charge maintenance.
- When charging, ensure good ventilation.

3. Maintenance
- Keep the battery's surface clean and dry. Clean only with a moist or anti-static cloth.
- Protect terminals and connection clamps from corrosion.
- Do not open batteries without filler holes (No need to top up electrolyte).
- In the event of inadequate starting power, check and if necessary recharge the battery
(see section 2 above).
- When the battery has been removed and placed in storage, regularly check its
level of charge, or use a charge-maintenance device. Recharge when the open circuit
charge falls below 12.3 V.
- Always store filled batteries charged and in a cool place.
- When the vehicle is taken out of use:
First read the manufacturer's owner's manual and follow the instruction contained in it!
Voltage interruptions can lead to malfunction of various electronic components (vehicle
immobilisation systems, radio, etc.).
Disconnect the negative clamp (-) or connect an appropriate charge maintenance device.
4. Jump starting
- Read the vehicle's owner's manual and follow their instructions regarding jump starting.
- Jump starting can only be carried out with a battery of the same nominal voltage.
The battery providing the current should be approximately the same size as that of
the battery being jump-started.
- Only use jump-start cables that are authorised (e.g. in accordance with DIN 72 553).
- Follow the instructions accompanying the jump-start cables.
