Warning Notes and Safety Regulations for Filled, Sealed Lead-Acid Batteries.
English
In handling the battery make use of the following warning notes and protective
measures:
Before working on the battery first read the vehicle manufacturer's owner's
manual and follow the instructions contained in it and in this user's guide.
Keep this user's guide with the owner's manual for the vehicle.
As a precaution, always wear eye protection when carrying out any work
on the battery.
Explosion hazard:
The charging of batteries creates a mixture of explosive gases.
Fire, sparks, naked flames and smoking are prohibited:
Avoid causing sparks, short circuits and electrostatic charges.
Only damp-clean the battery.
Keep children away from acid, batteries and chargers.
Corrosive hazard:
Battery acid is highly corrosive.
Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing.
Wear appropriate protective clothing, particularly protective gloves and eye
protection. Do not tilt the battery as acid may escape from the vent openings.
First Aid:
In the case of acid splashed in the eyes, rinse for several minutes with clean
water, then consult a doctor immediately!
Neutralise acid splashes on the clothes or skin with acid neutraliser (soda)
or soap suds and rinse with plenty of water.
If acid is swallowed, consult a doctor immediately!

Warning notes:
Do not expose batteries to direct sunlight (the battery case can become brittle).
Discharged batteries can freeze. Therefore store battery at temperature above its
freezing point. (The freezing point of the acid of a fully-charged battery is -70°C;
of a battery at 50% charge -15°C).
Disposal:
Dispose of old batteries at an authorised collection point. Never dispose of old
batteries in household waste! Always store and transport batteries in an upright
position free of danger of short circuiting or of tipping over, as otherwise acid
can escape. During transportation, leave the protective cover over the negative
terminal. Transport damaged batteries in appropriate, acid-resistant containers.
1. Installation in the vehicle and removal from the vehicle.
- Batteries that are delivered filled are ready for use.
- Attention! Interruption of the voltage can lead to malfunction of various
electronic components (vehicle immobilisation systems, radio, etc.).
- Only install sufficiently charged batteries (minimum 12.50 V open-circuit voltage).
- Prior to removal of the battery switch off the engine and all electrical systems.
- When removing the battery, first disconnect the negative terminal (-),
then the positive terminal.
- Prior to installation of the battery, clean the vehicle's battery tray.
- Clean the battery terminals and terminal connection and/or apply acid free grease in
accordance with the instructions of the vehicle manufacturer.
- Anchor the battery firmly; use the original anchoring equipment.
- After having fitted the battery in the vehicle, remove the protective cap from the
positive terminal and place it on the terminal of the replaced battery in order to avoid
short circuits and possible sparks.
- Remove any foreign objects from the battery tray.
- When installing, first connect the positive terminal (+), then the negative terminal (-).
