1 - Description and functions
This single axis hydraulic knee with hydraulic braking in stance phase is specifically intended for users up to 150 kg / 330 lbs (carried
load included). It provides 4 different adjustments, an extension assist and a locking system for flexion.
This knee is designed to allow flexion up to 120°. In full flexion, the socket can touch the band. No component should touch the
hydraulic system to prevent a risk of breaking and to protect the knee.
2 - Warranty
The warranty is not applicable to damages due to bad use, use in a very dusty environment without adapted protection, or any
inappropriate use.
3 - Use of lock mode
The 1P130 knee is equipped with an hydraulic lock. As it prevents knee flexion, it is useful to go up a ladder
for example.
To activate this lock, press the knob
locked. Press the opposite knob to release it.
4 - Safety advice (for the patient and the people near him)
Your knee has been adjusted by your prosthetist and you should not alter these adjustments, otherwise you may fall or encounter
severe knee dysfunction.
It is strictly forbidden to tighten or loosen any screw of this knee. If you notice slack or dysfunction in your knee, please contact your
prosthetist.
There is a risk of having a finger caught or clothing pinched in the knee joint.
To avoid any risk of injury caused by the motion between the parts, take care that no one (you and the people near you) puts his finger
near them.
The knee is intended for a load up to 150 kg / 300 lbs (patient + carried load). In case of overload, a safety system releases the
hydraulic system and may lead to the knee flexion rapidly.
If you carry a load, knee functioning may be affected. Especially resistance in stair descent may be unsufficient.
Intensive use of the knee brake (descent of slope or stairs for a long time) can lead to overheating of the hydraulic system and
decreased braking. Do not touch the knee and decrease activity to allow cooling down of the components.
For safety purpose we recommend that you hold onto the handrail when going downstairs.
If the knee is immobilized for a long time in very cold weather, a few steps will be necessary before the hydraulic system returns to
normal operation. Walk cautiously until your usual sensations come back.
5 - Advice for use
At first use after a rest period of several hours, the knee can emit a clicking noise. This does not alter its functions.
Do not expose the knee to situations that may cause the corrosion of the metallic parts (fresh water, sea water, chlorinated water,
acids, ...). This knee is not appropriate for a bath prosthesis. This knee is weather resistant : after bad weather you just have to dry it
carefully.
Never grease the knee axis and ball bearings because this could damage them.
In the event of a significant increase in your body weight, have the safety adjustments of your knee adjusted by your prosthetist.
Do not leave your prosthesis near a source of heat : risk of burning and toxic release.
The temperature range for knee use is from -10°C to +40°C (from 14°F to 104°F).
If used in an environment with very low or very high temperatures, the knee behaviour may significantly change. In this case you
should take precautions during walking and in slope or stair descent.
In case of fall, shock or abnormal behaviour of the joint, contact the prosthetist for knee control.
Contact the prosthetist for knee joint control at least once a year to ensure proper functioning. If needed, he will order the
necessary maintenance operations.
6 - Advice for cleaning
You can clean the knee with a damp sponge. Do no immerse it or rinse it under water. After bad weather (rain) or non-intended
sprinkling, dry your knee.
Using solvents is
forbidden.
