With the saw running, the clamping arm will rotate forward
u
until it comes in contact with the workpiece.
Once the cut is complete, the clamping arm will rotate fully
u
back to the stop position.
Sawing (fig. E)
Always hold the tool with both hands.
u
Let the blade run freely for a few seconds before starting
u
the cut.
Apply only a gentle pressure to the tool while performing
u
the cut.
If possible, work with the shoe (6) pressed against the
u
workpiece. This will improve tool control and reduce tool
vibration, as well as prevent the blade from being dam-
aged.
Hints for optimum use
Cutting branches
Branches up to 75 mm in diameter can be cut with this tool.
Warning! Do not use the tool while in a tree, on a ladder or
on any other unstable surface. Be aware of where the branch
will fall.
Make sure the tool is running at full speed before making
u
a cut.
Hold the tool firmly in place to avoid possible bouncing or
u
sideways movement of the tool.
Guide the tool using light pressure.
u
Always cut down from the top. This way you will avoid
u
pinching the saw blade.
Remove branches starting from branch tip. Reduce the
u
branch in logical steps cutting off small sections.
When cutting a limb that is under tension be aware of
u
spring back. When the tension in the wood fibers are
released the spring loaded limb may strike the operator
and /or throw the tool out of control.
Remove the tool from the cut while it is running at full
u
speed.
Cutting metal
Use a finer blade (24 teeth per inch) for ferrous metals
u
and a coarse blade for non-ferrous materials.
In thin gauge sheet metals it is best to clamp wood to the
u
underside of the sheet. This will ensure a clean cut without
excess vibration or tearing of metal.
Avoid forcing cutting blade as this reduces blade life and
u
causes costly blade breakage.
Note! Spread a thin film of oil or other coolant along the line
ahead of the saw cut for easier operation and longer blade
life. Aluminum should be cut dry.

Accessories
The performance of your tool depends on the accessory used.
BLACK+DECKER and Piranha accessories are engineered
to high quality standards and designed to enhance the perfor-
mance of your tool. By using these accessories you will get
the very best from your tool.
Blades
The saw will accept a blade up to 15 cm long. Always use the
shortest blade suitable for your project but long enough to
keep the blade cutting through the material. Longer blades are
more likely to be bent or damaged during use. During opera-
tion some longer blades may vibrate or shake if the saw is not
kept in contact with the workpiece.
Maintenance
Your BLACK+DECKER tool has been designed to operate
over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance.
Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper tool
care and regular cleaning.
Your charger does not require any maintenance apart from
regular cleaning.
Warning! Before performing any maintenance on the tool,
remove the battery from the tool. Unplug the charger before
cleaning it.
Regularly clean the ventilation slots in your tool and
u
charger using a soft brush or dry cloth.
Regularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth. Do
u
not use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
Regularly open the chuck and tap it to remove any dust
u
from the interior.
