WARNING:
Observe lines closely during the transfer. Always use good line
management techniques. Failure to do so could cause patient fall,
injury, or equipment damage.
56. Observe lines closely as you transfer the patient per facility protocols.
Access the cervical traction assembly
The cervical traction release control is a push button on the upper-left side
of the head-end column.
57. Push the cervical traction release
button. The assembly moves out from
the column.
58. Pull the assembly out from the
column, and make sure the assembly
is in the locked-out position. The
cervical traction release button will
return to its original position.
WARNING:
The maximum diameter of the traction rope should be 6.35 mm (0.25").
The use of a traction rope that is greater than 6.35 mm (0.25") in
diameter could cause binding inside the cervical traction assembly.
Patient injury could occur as a result of inaccurate traction.
59. Put the traction rope through the hole
in the center of the bowtie. The rope
will go through the traction assembly
and out the left side of the column,
near the release.
60. Put the traction rope over and around
the pulley.
