Fit filter to the Powered Air Turbo by screwing tightly into the inlet. See
Figure 1.
Battery Pack
Only use recommended battery charger (see reference leaflet for
appropriate battery charger).
Do not short circuit the battery.
The battery should be charged prior to first use or if unused for more
than 5 days.
Replace the battery after 300 charges.
Insert the battery cable plug into the battery and lock into place (see
figure 2).
Airflow Check
Insert airflow indicator into the Powered Air Turbo outlet, ensuring filter
and a fully charged battery are fitted. Switch on battery.
Check airflow (see Figure 3) switch off battery and remove airflow
indicator.
If mimimum airflow is not achieved see fault finding.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
DONNING
With the battery pack switched OFF:
1. Clip battery pack onto waist belt.
2. Fully loosen all 6 head straps, then place harness on the back of the
head and pull the facepiece down over the face (Figure 4).
3. Progressively tighten the harness starting with the lower straps then
upper straps (Figure 5). Do not overtighten.
4. Perform a Negative Pressure Fit Check. See Figure 6.
5. Remove hand from filter inlet and switch ON battery pack.

FIT CHECK

Place the palm of the hand over the inlet, inhale gently and hold your
breath for five to ten seconds.
If the facepiece collapses slightly a proper fit has been achieved.
If an air leak is detected, reposition the respirator on the face and / or
re-adjust the tension of the elastic strap to eliminate the leakage.
Repeat the above fit check.
If you CANNOT achieve a proper fit DO NOT enter the hazardous area.
See your supervisor.
Users should be fit tested in accordance with national requirements.
For information regarding fit testing procedures, please contact 3M.
IN USE
Use in the power off state is not normal. However, reduced
protection is provided to allow safe exit from the contaminated
area.
Take care to prevent the battery cable from becoming looped around
protruding objects. If this should occur vacate the contaminated area and
check apparatus is undamaged.
The 'in-use' life of the product will vary with frequency and conditions of
use.
In everyday use, it is recommended that the product is discarded after
approximately 5 years service, provided the product is stored and
maintained as stated below.
Some extreme conditions may result in deterioration over a shorter
period.
DOFFING
Do not remove the facepiece, filters or turn off the air supply until you
have vacated the contaminated area.
1. Release the tension on the head straps.
2. Carefully lift facepiece off the face and remove the respirator by lifting
up and away from the face.
3. Switch off the Powered Air Turbo.
4. Unclip the battery from the waistbelt.
NOTE: If the respirator has been used in an area that has caused it
to become contaminated with a substance requiring special
decontamination procedures it should be placed in a suitable
container and sealed until it can be decontaminated or discarded.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTION
