Ejection
After ejecting the Floppydisk Adapter from the FDD,
completely wipe off all dirt and dust from the rectangular
recess at the top center on the back of the Floppydisk
Adapter. Also wipe the black section at the top center (on the
exact opposite side of the recess) on the front of the adapter.
After ensuring that all dirt and dust has been removed, always
remove the SmartMedia from the Floppydisk Adapter and
store it in the provided clear case.
CAUTION
If dirt or dust is attached to the Floppydisk
Adapter's recess or black section when you
remove it from the FDD, be sure to clean the FDD
head with a commercially available head cleaner
before inserting an ordinary floppy disk.
Otherwise dirt or dust left on the FDD head could
damage the floppy disk and cause data to be lost.
We recommend that you always clean the FDD
after removing the adapter.
Never eject the Floppydisk Adapter from the FDD
while its access lamp is lit (i.e. during data write,
read, erase or formatting). Doing so could destroy
data stored on the SmartMedia, cause Windows to
crash, or, in the worst case, damage the
SmartMedia itself. If the Floppydisk Adapter is
ejected in the middle of data write, the file being
written may appear to have been saved when in
fact it is not. Always check the contents of a file
after writing it to the SmartMedia.
