Standby mode setting
In the menu "Programs » Control Panel » Energy
Options", you can specify the parameters, which enable
the KTS 650 to deliberately move into standby mode
in power pack or battery operation, and switch off
the monitor or the hard disk. Select the menu option
"Power Schemes" and set the desired parameters.
The figure shows the default factory settings
!
Do not change the settings in the other menu
options.

Operation

Further operating instructions can be found in the
KTS 650- Program Description 1 689 979 858.
4.5.1
Multimeter and oscilloscope
Danger from high voltage!
If measurements are taken without a ground
lead, potentially deadly voltages can build up .
If no diagnostic cable is connected, and
before making U, R or I measurements,
ensure that the KTS 650 (Figure. 1,
Item 2) is grounded by connecting the
accompanying ground lead to the vehicle
ground!
Connect the ground lead as closely as
possible to the measurement object!
Bosch Diagnostics
Operation | KTS 650 | 1
Use the KTS 650 only on the vehicle and
not for measurements on voltages > 60 Volt!
Do not make any measurements on ignition
systems!
Only use the accompanying measuring
cables with touch protection!
Always plug the measuring cables into the
KTS 650 first and then into the vehicle!
Unshielded measuring cables must not
be placed close to strong sources of
disturbance, for example ignition cables!
In the case of highly resistive sensor signals
with low level, use the shielded measuring
cable 1 684 465 490 (special accessories).
For the KTS 650, a 2-channel multimeter and a
2-channel oscilloscope are available to you.
If the KTS 650 is used to make voltage measurements
with the multimeter or oscilloscope via measuring
channel CH2, the power supply will be switched off
via the vehicle, as the measuring channel CH2 is not
at zero potential, and it can therefore lead to faulty
measurements.
i
When reading out vehicle data in the control unit
diagnostics mode, the 1-channel oscilloscope has
a limited functionality (scan rate 50 kHz instead of
100 kHz) and the 2-channel oscilloscope can not be
used.
4.5.
Power supply
The KTS 650 can be operated with the following power
supplies:
1.
Power pack (only use the power pack enclosed with
the delivery specification!).
2.
Vehicle battery (supply via the connected OBD
connecting cable to the diagnostic plug in the
vehicle. The voltage of the vehicle battery (U
should be at least 12 V).
Internal battery (see Chapter 4.5.3).
3.
!
Do not operated the KTS 650 without a battery.
i
If the KTS 650 is only operated with the battery,
the LED for the battery charge state (Fig. 2, Item 7)
lights up.
