5.4.2. Installation of self-drilling and tapping
screws
"DANGER": The self-drilling and tapping screws
(fig. 10, item 7) must be screwed through the steel tray
and sandwich tray deck section (fig. 10, item 8) in the
support structure (fig. 10, item 9), of the roof or siding. If
one or several screws are not screwed into the
structure, re-position the screw(s) next to the support
structure (fig. 10, item 9).
Depending on the layout diagrams for the plates
defined in the preliminary study (§5.1), install the self-
drilling and tapping screws as described below:
• Identify the support structure located nearest the
planned mounting location.
"IMPORTANT": The support structure nearest to
the plate mounting location must be no more than
500 mm from the centre of the plate represented by the
hole for installation of the screw HM16 (fig. 8, item 11).
If the distance exceeds 500 mm, review the preliminary
study (§5.1) to ensure the required minimum distance.
• Place the self-drilling and tapping screws as
specified in figures 5.1 to 5.2 in accordance with
the specifications of the table given in page 9.
• Using the screwing-unscrewing drilling machine
(fig. 6, item 1) equipped with the end cap for 8 mm
H head screw (fig. 6, item 2), drill the roof deck
section (fig. 16, item 8) and the support structure
(fig. 10, item 9), then screw in the self-drilling and
tapping screw until the sealing washer is correctly
pressed against the roof deck section.
"IMPORTANT": If self-drilling and tapping screws
are used on either side of the ribs on the roof deck
section (fig. 10, item 8), to ensure the tear strength of
the roof deck section, the self-drilling and tapping
screws (fig. 10, item 7) must be located no more than
30 mm from the roof deck section rib (fig. 10).
"NOTE": Use the screws recommended by the
roof supplier or similar. If this is not possible, make sure
to choose screws appropriate to the type of roof
(thickness of the insulation when there is one) and the
thickness of the supporting structure (pane).
The screws must be equipped with a sealing washer.
→ Self-drilling and tapping screws in place.
5.4.3. Plate assembly for steel and sandwich
trays. Identify the corrugation of the tray to
determine the corresponding holes on the
plate.

1. Installation of coupling bolt on plate:
®
• Fit the screw HM16 (fig. 8, item 2) equipped with a
washer M16 (fig. 8, item 3) by inserting it through
the side opposite the marking (fig. 8, item 10).
• Fit the second washer M16 (fig. 8, item 3) then
manually install and tighten the nut HM16 (fig. 8,
item 4). possibile to approach using the spanners
(fig 6, item 6)
2. Installation of gaskets (fig. 8, item 5) on plate (fig. 8,
item 1).
• Remove the protective film from the first seal
(fig. 8, item 5) and bond it on the centre holes of
the plate on the opposite side of the marking (fig. 8,
item 10).
• Remove the protective film from the second and
third seals (fig. 8, item 5) and fasten it on the holes
corresponding to the distance of a corrugation on
both sides of the seal installed previously.
"NOTE": The intermediate gaskets must be
fastened on the plate parallel to the outdoors seals.
"IMPORTANT": The gaskets (fig. 8, item 5) must
be placed on the side opposite the marking on the plate
(fig. 8, item 10).
→ Plate assembled
5.4.4. Locating and securing the assembled plate
on the steel and sandwich tray
• Place the assembled mounting plate (fig. 11,
item 1) on the steel roof deck section (fig. 11,
item 8) no more than 500 mm from the support
structure.
• Centre the holes on the plate on the roof deck
section ribs (fig. 11, item 8).
• Drill 12 holes on the tray corresponding with the
corrugations identified.
• Drill the roof deck section (fig. 11, item 8) using
the screwing-unscrewing drilling machine (fig. 6,
item 1) equipped with an 8 mm diameter steel drill
bit (fig. 6, item. 3).
• Install and crimp the 7.7 mm diameter aluminium
rivets (fig. 8, item 6) using the riveting pliers (fig. 6,
item 4) equipped with the tip (fig. 6, item 5).
5.4.5. Assembly of the plate for standing seamed
trays
Identify the corrugation of the tray to determine the
corresponding holes on the plate.
1. Installation of the coupling bolt on the plate:
• Fit the HM16 screw (fig. 9, item 2) equipped with
an M16 washer (fig. 9, item 3) by inserting it on the
side opposite the marking (fig. 9, item 10).
• Place the second M16 washer (fig. 9, item 3)
then set up and hand tighten the HM16 nut (fig. 9,
item 4).Can be tightened using the spanners (fig
6, item 6)
