4.3 utomation
Operating principle
When a tap is opened, the pressure in the installation drops and the
pump starts instantaneously at the 1.5 bar threshold set in the
factory. The pump keeps running for as long as there is some
minimum flow in the installation. When the tap is closed, the pump
stops automatically after a 3 or 5 second delay.
The automation protects the pump against dry running by stopping
the pump immediately. This stoppage is reported by the safety
system activation" L RM" check light (See Fig. 3 - item 15).
The "RESET" button (See Fig. 3 - item 3) is used to restart the pump.
4.5 ccessories (optional)
• Suction kit (ST RKIT G1) • Foot valve-strainer • Isolating valves...
5. INST LL TION
Two standard cases:
• Pump in suction (see Fig. 1).
• Pump under pressure from storage tank (see Fig. 2 - item 8) or town
water supply (item 9)
Max. town water supply pressure 1 bar with the automatic control
cut-in pressure pre-set; up to 2 bars with the setting adjusted.
5.1 Installation
Install the pump in a place that is easy to reach, protected from
frost, and as close as possible to the place from which water is
drawn.
Install the pump on a foundation block or directly on a smooth, level
floor ( cceptable deviation from horizontal : + or - 5°).
ttach the pump using the two notches on the spacer-support
(8-mm bolting).
Bear in mind that the altitude of the place of
installation and the water temperature may reduce

5.2 Hydraulic connections

- Suction ports on pump: 1" (26-34), tapped.
- Discharge ports on automation control: 1" (26-34), threaded.
- Suction pipe : flexible hose with a reinforcement or rigid screw.
- Discharge pipe : flexible hose with reinforcement screw in order to
avoid any stress on automatic control.
- The diameter of the suction pipe must never be smaller than that of
the pump.
Furthermore, for pump SPRINGSON for the series 400 with a suction
head (H ) higher than 6 m the minimum required inside diameter of
the pipe is 28 mm.
- Use a suction pipe with the strainer-foot valve to avoid that the
suction pipe is empty when the pump is stopping.
The setting of a strainer (maximum cross section 1 mm) avoids any
damage of the pump by suction of stones and particles.
- Limit the horizontal length of the suction pipe and avoid all features
that cause losses of head (bends, tapers, etc.).
- No air input is allowed in the suction pipe. Carefully seal the pipes
with appropriate materials.
- If the pump is in suction : immerse the strainer (at least 200 mm
deep). If necessary ballast the flexible pipe.

5.3 Electrical connections

Connections and checks should be done by a qualified
electrician, in compliance with current local standards.
The motors have an integrated thermal protection.
If we add an extension to the electric cable provided with the
booster, this one has to comply with the type HO7 RN F.
DO NOT FORGET TO CONNECT THE E RTH.
Install an earth fault breaker on the installation.
5.4 Pressure gauge orientation (See Fig. 3)
The pressure gauge is mounted in the factory on one side of the
automatic control. If this orientation is not appropriate, it is possible
to mount it on the other side (at 180°).
- Unscrew both fixing screws of the pressure gauge.
- Remove carefully the pressure gauge without damaging the O-
ring on the axis.
- Unscrew the plug located at the opposite from the pressure gauge
and screw it again in the hole due to the pressure gauge removal
(no gasket).
- Insert the pressure gauge (check the presence of the O-ring) in the
free hole through the plug and screw both fixing screws of the
