3 Connecting the Camera

BNC: Connect the BNC video connector on the camera cable to
a single run of RG59 / RG6 coaxial cable, or to an analog CCTV
balun with a single run of network cable (CAT5e or higher).
NOTE
The video signal can be extended up to 1640ft (500m) with a
single run of RG6 cabling. See 3.1 Video Cabling, page 6 for
details on extension cable options.

12V DC: Connect the camera's power cable to the included 12V
DC power supply.
CAUTION
Make sure to disconnect the power cable before installing the
camera. The camera will begin moving immediately when the
power cable is connected.

Alarm (Optional): Connect the camera to up to 2 alarm input de-
vices and 1 alarm output device.

Audio (Optional): Connect the camera to a self-powered micro-
phone for listen-in audio.

RS485: Only for use with analog DVRs (CVBS) — To control the
camera's PTZ functions, connect the camera's RS485 cables to
the DVR's RS485 ports. Match the polarity of the RS485 cables
with the DVR's RS485 positive and negative ports. See 8 Control-
ling the PTZ Camera with an Analog DVR (CVBS), page 45 for full
details.
