Always know your fall distance and select proper equipment to meet the fall clearance. Remember, under 18 1/2
ft (5.6m) always use a self-retracting lifeline and over 18 1/2 ft (5.6m) a shock-absorbing lanyard or self-retracting
lifeline can be used. Always calculate your fall distance before selecting your fall protection equipment.
8.0 Storage, Maintenence & Inspection
Storage
The Portable Fall Arrest system should be completely inspected/maintained prior to storage. If damage or wear is
detected, remove from service and mark "DO NOT USE" until repaired.
Steps to follow prior to storage:
1.
Clean debris/dust/contaminants from the system using mild soapy water. Ensure all labels are legible & intact.
2.
If HLL is used, clean it using a neutralizing solution, especially if the lifeline has been used in a corrosive or
toxic environment.
3.
Perform complete and thorough inspection, documenting the results.
4.
Touch up any scratches, etc. to help prevent corrosion.
5.
Store in a cool dry location. (If using storage bags, ensure unit is completely dry).
