tile functional possibilities and exceptional wearer comfort. The following explanations highlight some of the

Safety Instructions

Failure to follow the safety instructions given below can lead to damage to or malfunction of the
product. Follow the safety instructions and the stated precautions in this accompanying document.
• Before interrupting or establishing electrical connections (such as when removing the Hand from the pros-
thesis), the system must be disconnected from the power supply. For this purpose, either remove the batte-
ry from the battery receptacle or turn the prosthesis off by pressing the button in the charging receptacle.
• Do not let foreign particles or liquids enter the Electric Hand. The Electric Hand should not be subjected
to intense smoke, dust, mechanical vibrations, shocks or high temperatures.
• The System Electric Hand and the connected components might malfunction when near high-tension power
lines, transmitters, transformers or other sources of strong electromagnetic radiation (such as security
systems for goods in department stores). Setting the electrode gains as low as possible will minimise this
risk. If such malfunctions occur repeatedly, please have the electrode settings checked by your prosthetist.
• The System Electric Hand has been developed for everyday use and must not be used for unusual activi-
ties such as extreme sports (free climbing, paragliding, etc.).
• Careful handling of the prosthesis and its components not only increases their service life but, above all,
ensures your safety! Should the prosthesis be subjected to unusual stresses (such as a fall), immediately
contact your prosthetist and have the prosthesis inspected for any damage. If necessary, the responsible
prosthetist will pass the prosthesis on to the Ottobock Myo-Service.
• If the distance to HF communication devices (e.g. mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, WLAN devices) is
too small, interference with internal data communications can result in malfunctions of the product. There-
fore, keeping the following minimum distances to these HF communication devices is recommended:
Mobile phone GSM 850/GSM 900: 0.99 m
Mobile phone GSM 1800/GSM 1900/UMTS: 0.7 m
DECT cordless phones incl. base station: 0.35 m
WLAN (routers, access points,...): 0.22 m
Bluetooth devices (third-party products not approved by Ottobock): 0.22 m
• The product and any damaged components may only be opened and/or repaired by certified Ottobock
Myo-Service technicians.
• When operating the product in the immediate vicinity of active, implantable systems (e.g. pacemakers,
defibrillators, etc.), ensure that the minimum distances stipulated by the manufacturer of the implant are
observed. Interference with active, implantable systems may occur due to the electromagnetic radiation
