•
Check the wear of the bushing. See Fig. 5 for
maximum wear limits. Excessive wear may result
in chisel breakage and damage to the piston.
•
Check housing and adapter plates for cracks and
wear.
Yearly:
•
For safety reasons inspection and service should
be done at the nearest Atlas Copco service cen-
tre, or authorised workshop.
Storage
If the hammer is unused for a long time, the following
steps must be taken to protect it from rust:
•
Clean the hammer thoroughly.
•
Remove the chisel and lubricate the front part of
the piston, the bushing and the chisel locking me-
chanism.
•
Store the hammer in an upright position. This re-
duces the risk of damage to the piston. Make
sure the hammer cannot fall over.

The accumulator has the safety labels shown in the
illustration.

WARNING
Before removing the accumulator always re-
lease the gas first!
To release the gas from the accumulator,
open the valve nut (2) by 2–3 turns (fig. 7).
On the HBC 6000, first loosen plug (A), then
carefully open screw (B).
Then loosen and remove the screws that se-
cure the accumulator to the hammer.
!
WARNING
The accumulator(s) on the hammer are in
the charged condition when the hammer is
delivered.
Accumulators supplied as spare parts are
delivered in the uncharged condition. Do
NOT charge the accumulator until it has
been securely fitted to the hammer. Incor-
rect handling incurs the risk of injury to per-
sonnel.
Fit the accumulator to the hammer using un-
damaged original screws. In the event of
corrosion or other damage to one or more
screws, all screws must be changed at the
same time.
Imperfect screws can lead to dangerous oil
leakage, or to the accumulator being blown
off the hammer. Jets of oil can seriously in-
jure the eyes and skin. Loose parts can re-
sult in serious injury to personnel.
