I: aSSEMBlE thE acp tranSoM UnIt
Important! The transom unit should be assembled
to as flat a surface as possible. The curvature of the
transom must not be less than 9 m or 29.5 feet. Re-
fer to figure I:1.
Important! When installing the unit in a recess,
make sure that there is a clearance of 2 " (50 mm)
surrounding the unit.
1.
Draw a vertical line and a horizontal line on the transom.
Place the jig so that the lines fit with the markings on the
edges of the jig, and fasten it with two screws (not includ-
ed), as shown in fig. I:2.
Important! The transom unit must be installed as
low as possible, at least 50 mm or 2 " beneath the
water line.
2.
Drill the four 13 mm (1/2") diameter bolt holes with regard
to the orientation of the transom unit. See Figure I:3.
3.
Undo the screws fastening the jig to the transom, as
shown in Figure I:4, and remove the jig. Drill the cable
grommet hole, diameter 2" or 52 mm, using a hole saw,
as shown in Figure I:5.
Important! Make sure that the hole located at the
intersection of the two lines is used as a centre hole
to guide the hole saw.
4.
Assemble the transom unit on the transom. First, lead the
cables through the cable grommet hole. Refer to Figure
I:6.
5.
For fiberglass hulls, seal the holes using appropriate
sealant. For aluminum hulls, apply corrosion protection
(9510227) before fastening the bolts, refer to Figure I:6.
6.
Fasten each bolt with washer and locking nut. Refer to
Figure I:6. Tighten to 20 Nm or 15 lb.ft..
note! The tightening torque refers to the installation and
is not intended for follow-up draft.
7.
Fasten the grommet with plastic washer and grommet
nut.
First, fasten the grommet nut by hand. Tighten it another
1/4-1/2 turn, using a wrench. Refer to Figure I:7.
II: aSSEMBlE thE corroSIon protEctIon
MoDUlE (cpM)
Important! The Corrosion Protection Module (CPM)
should be assembled inside the engine room on the
transom, preferably above the water line.
Important! Choose a location close to the centre line
so that it allows the drive bonding cables to reach
the solenoid protections, where they are to be con-
nected. Refer to Figure III:2.
1.
Use the Corrosion Protection Module (CPM) as a tem-
plate and mark out the three holes.
2.
Drill pilot holes.
3.
Assemble the Corrosion Protection Module (CPM). Fas-
ten it with washers and appropriate screws (not included).
III: connEctIng thE caBlES
An overview of the ACP system cabling is shown in Fig-
ure III:1.
Important! Make sure that there are no hidden cable
joints, and always secure cables carefully to avoid
exposure to water and moving or hot parts.
1.
Connect the 12-pin connector of the transom unit to
the Corrosion Protection Module (CPM) socket marked
"TRANSOM UNIT"(white). Refer to Figure III:2.
2.
Fasten the cable terminal marked "BONDING TO PORT
DRIVE", and one of the bonding cable terminals at the
solenoid guard of the outer port IPS drive leg (#1). Add
M8 washers between cable terminals and the solenoid
guard. Tighten to 25 Nm or 18 lb.ft. Refer to Figure III:2.
note! For TRIPLE installations, bond IPS drive leg #1 to
IPS drive leg #2, IPS drive leg #2 to IPS drive leg #3, as
shown in Figure III:2a.
note! For QUAD installations, bond IPS drive leg #1 to
IPS drive leg #2, IPS drive leg #2 to IPS drive leg #3, IPS
drive leg #3 to IPS drive leg #4, as shown in Figure III:2b.
3.
Fasten the cable terminal marked "BONDING TO SB
DRIVE" and the remaining bonding cable terminal at the
solenoid guard of the outer starboard IPS drive leg. Refer
to Figure
III:2.
