Bitron 550 LM can be combined with Proficlear module filters. Operation is only possible in pumped systems. To this
effect, please read the documentation covering the Proficlear module filter system.

Intended use

Bitron 550 LM, in the following text termed unit, is a UVC clarifying unit for cleaning normal pond water at temperatures
from +4 to +35° C. Minimum distance between the unit and the pond edge: 2 m.
Use other than that intended
Danger to persons can emanate from this unit if it is not used in accordance with the intended use and in the case of
misuse. If used for purposes other than that intended, our warranty and operating permit will become null and void.

Safety information

OASE has manufactured this unit according to the current state of the art and the valid safety regulations. Despite the
above, hazards for persons and assets can emanate from this unit if it is used in an improper manner or not in accor-
dance with its intended use, or if the safety instructions are ignored.
For safety reasons, children and young persons under 16 years of age as well as persons who cannot recog-
nise possible danger or who are not familiar with these operating instructions, are not permitted to use the
unit!
Attention! Dangerous ultra-violet radiation.
The radiation of the UVC lamp, even in small doses, is dangerous for eyes and skin! Never operate the UVC lamp in a
defective housing or outside of the housing.
Hazards encountered by the combination of water and electricity
− The combination of water and electricity can lead to death or severe injury from electrocution, if the unit is incorrectly
connected or misused.
− Prior to reaching into the water, always disconnect the power supply to all units used in the water.
Correct electrical installation
− Electrical installations at ponds must meet the international and national regulations valid for installers.
− Electrical installations may only be carried out by qualified electricians.
− Only use cables approved for outside use.
− Ensure that the unit is protected by for a rated fault current of max. 30 mA via a fault current protection device.
− Only connect the unit when the electrical data of the power supply is identical to that on the unit type plate.
− Only operate the unit when plugged into a correctly fitted socket. Keep the socket dry.
Safe operation of the unit
− Only operate the unit if no persons are in the water.
− Keep the power plug dry.
− Route the power cable so that damage is excluded.
− Do not carry or pull the unit by the power cable. The power connection cable cannot be replaced.
− Never run the unit without water. The unit would be destroyed.
− Never use the pump for fluids other than water. Other fluids could destroy the unit.
− Never open the unit housing or its attendant components, unless this is explicitly mentioned in the operating instruc-
tions.
− Never carry out technical modifications to the unit.
− Only use original spare parts and original accessories for the unit.
Installation (A, B)
Observe a flood safe distance from the pond edge conforming with the regulations. It is important to maintain a mini-
mum distance of the unit (1) from the pond (e.g. in Germany 2 m). VDE 0100, Part 702 or the IEC 60364-7-702 applies
to all installations.
Place the unit (1) horizontally on a firm and level ground (slabs as minimum levelling, concrete to be preferred). Due to
the considerable volume, the weight of the unit (1) (350 kg when the container is filled) has to be taken into considera-
tion when selecting the ground.
Ensure the unrestricted access to the unit (1) to be able to carry out cleaning and maintenance work. When installing,
ensure that the pond inlet (or start of the water course or waterfall) is not located higher than the unit (1) outlet.
Note: When in operation, the pond pump must always be covered with at least 100 mm of water. Danger of running dry
and, as a result, damage to the pump!
